Car DIES!!!!

Long story short...when I drive in semi-hot weather for more than half an hour my car dies. I think the fuel is cutting off as it has the same feeling as when you run out of gas. Chugs for a bit then dies. If I let the car sit for a bit, I can drive for another half an hour or so. I think the relay or the fuel pump itself is just over heating and needs to cool down. Has anyone else suffered from this problem?

I talked to a few mechanics and they think it is likely the pump itself, but this doesn't really make sense to me as the pump is submersed in fuel and this should keep it pretty cool...unless the electronics inside are fubar'd.

Sounds like a bad fuel pump. Replace it with a 255lph intank and install a new fuel filter at the same time

Just did a new fuel filter at the end of last year, but will do so again. Why such a big pump? The car is pretty stock so I shouldn't need one that big should I? Also, any recommendations on a type of fuel regulator?

do the pump once, you never know where you might go in the future in the terms off modifying the car. if you need a bigger pump down the road you already have one and don't have to buy another.

Yep, for the minimal cost difference between a 110lph pump and a 255lph pump you might as well just get the better pump. It won't have to work as hard if you decide to up the fuel pressure, and that equals better and longer performance. And as Rico pointed out above, it will support a fair bit of mods if you do decide to throw some at it.

That's what I figured you guys were getting at, and it makes sense, but the 155 should do fine.

Fuel pressure won't be upped....trust me, if I do what I want to in the future to this car I will be running an external pump. The smaller one will work for what I have planned for now anyways...

Thanks guys....I am going to order one from summit right now.

Put her in 2 weeks ago and not a problem since. The fuel pump whine is a little louder, but that just gives it that race car sound
Easy install and no stalling when I am driving. Gotta love it!!!
