looking for new suspensionany ideas?
 

hey well i have just started to research for new suspension and i dont know what i want to do yet.i have a 84 stang and im going to be driveing this car on the street as well as drag. if anyone has any tip for me or kits that will be good for me or anything at all pls let me know thanks.... im looking for street/strip with a low stance..i have a 396 with a 3550 trany. i want to do all rear end axles front and rear suspension. i have 17" cobra R on its right now. tires size front 255/40R17 rear 285/40R17. and most likely im going to be putting on slicks at the track.

as for axles, why do you want to upgrade? do you plan to run a spool?

curious, what kind of #'s is your motor making?

well i havent hit the track with my new motor yet but i plan to this summer. ill let you guys know what i run... oh and yes i plan on gettin a spool or somthing like a Detroit locker or somthing that i can run on the street as well as drag. all i have right now are frame cont and that about it.

I would advise against a spool or mini spool for a street strip car. If you're going to drive it on the street mainly, with the occasional strip visits then you can just install a rebuilt Ford 31 spline Traction Loc carrier with Moser 31 spline axles. Are your wheels 4 bolt or 5 bolt?
As for suspension, a reasonable set up that won't take away too much from your ETs would be stepping up to SN95 front and rear brakes, along with Steeda X2 balljoints, Steeda bumpsteer kit, Koni adjustable shocks and struts, and your choice of either Eibach lowering springs or the original Ford Mustang Bullit springs. The Bullit springs will only lower the car about half an inch, but won't take away as much as a set of Eibachs would for straightline traction. Regardless of what other parts you throw into the car, make sure you install Subframe connectors first and have your torque boxes checked for cracks. If they are fine, leave em. If you notice anything out of place, then have a Torque Box reinforcement kit welded in.

i had to do mine and my motor isn't near the output your motor is. i actually made mine, gonna do the uppers in the spring when the car comes back out, either that or get the torque arm from maximum and get rid of the uppers.
