Question New member & BBK Cam covers with oil leak!

I have a set of the BBK cam covers on my car and had them installed by a very reputible shop here, they had a heck of a time getting them on and leak free, well now there is a tiny bit of oil seeping through at the top getting on my intakes (typhoon polished upper and lower) I am wondering because no one wants to take them off again,,,, would a small bead of gasket maker up under the lip of the covers do the trick? If so I cannot think of a time that they would ever be back off. I know I would have to throughly clean everything with brake cleaner, but what do you think guys? Thanks for helping out a new member. PS I mean it is a tiny tiny leak. After 150 miles of driving there was only a couple of small drops of oil on the intake.

A bead of RTV would work fine there.

Take a look at the bolts that hold the covers down. Did the shop use the supplied "washers" under the bolt heads?

Always seems to end up being the shops fault, never BBKs, right Bryan?

Nightmare, don't be surprised if the leaking never stops until you remove the BBK stuff. I purchased a BBK SSI intake that continued to leak fuel nonstop. It took 3 shops to get it sorted at my expense.
Bryan is a BBK employee who lurks forums trying to make right when people speak the truth about their products. They usually tell you they know nothing about "internet mustang forums" until you slam them.

Take a read here about the leaking fuel BBK SSI intake I purchased made by them:
BBK SSI Intake Fuel Leak Problems. SAVE YOURSELF! - Mustang Forums at StangNet

Stangfan post here: http://www.stangfan.com/online/forum9/thread1069.html

Unless the BBK intake is modified it shouldn't pass cert or even be insured. It is a fired hazard which could potentially kill someone or a family if the car is parked in a garage attached to a house.

Oh and Bryan, tell Paul I'm stilling waiting for the gaskets he promised to send from February 26th 2008. You know, you would think with me micromanaging the retarded staff at BBK they would get something right.

Nightmare, it is funny that you too are having issues.. I suppose your shop, like the mustang shop that installed my BBK Clutch Cable made a mistake.
Another funny *** read about shitty BBK products. I had the same shop replace the clutch cable with a different make (Summit SUM-700100 ) from Summit Racing and have had no issues with it since.

Be forewarned, they might threaten to sue you Nightmare LOL
The best thing you can do is take the valve covers back to where you got them and ask for a refund. Summit should take them if you purchased from them.

Fun thought Bryan.... Last year I took 3rd place at a fairly large mustang event. 3rd in class isn't bad. People really loved my car. I can't recall how many people I told the BBK SSI leak story too. Out of maybe 30 people, 1 said he would avoid that product as he had genuine concern as I explained it all. It made me feel good to save someone from making a mistake and buyung your BBK SSI intake that leaks. :squintfin

Suck an egg
