new stang over heated help!

Hi guys I just bought a 1994 v6 mustang last night from a private party.

however on the way home i experienced some rough idling and then it over heated after about a half hour on the road.

i was wondering if it was thermostat or what would cause that need the car running asap and little cash so any help would be amazing thank you

I doubt someone is gonna be able to diagnose a overheating problem over the internet. Did you not drive the car before you bought it?

could be a headgasket.

Take it to a local mechanic. If youre overheating, there is a problem.

I would put a 180 thermo in it and check it out before I spent money on someone else to look at it. I mean it can't hurt to check. Throw the 8 bucks at it. But I wouldn't be driving it around.

lol no im not driving it anywhere anytime fast lol I threw a new thromostat in it and that was indeed the problem but when i over heated because the bad thrmostat i blew the head gasket :'(

so now i have to try to take the heads off and replace the gaskets. sucks

so i am almost wondering would it be easier to swap the engine?

and would a 5.0 sink up with my tranny?
