Service engine lite comes on ??????

Boy 4 a guy that dont own fords iseem 2 be coming here lots .Thanks big time to the gentleman that helped with the keyless entry thing on the 96 explorer with the 4 ltr v6 engine . I had changed the thermastat (noheat) and all was good .Now today the owner says the check engine lite soon come on .Ihad removed the cold air intake hose but left sensors in place Disconnected battery till done and there was no codes thrown .tonigth the engine lite came on ,anything i touched bolts clamps fluid levels etc seem ok .Now is there any way to access the computer to check codes any help apprecieated . check your owners manual....you can run a diagnosis through you trip odometer...it will give you a code so you can pinpoint the problem...

Is that in the owners manual thats in the glove box,or is that the ford factory manual ? I'm sure there's no manual in the glove box ,Her friends reset(?) the the computer last wkend .I'm sure she said the engine lite came back on.Everything seems ok,ie: starts good drives ok etc. The proceedure would be nice . Later bake
