12 bolt?

if i wanted to put a 12 in my third gen what would i look for? like out of what vehical and what are the modifications i would have to do to make it fit?

There is a lot of modifications that need to be done to put an average 12 bolt in the 3rd and 4th gen F-bodies because of the torque arm mount. I know some people have done it, but it takes some engineering and more than basic hand tools to make.

Honestly your best bet is to either buck up and pay for a new one or keep your eyes open for a used one.

hmmm i for some reason thought it was easier thn that but aperently not and and dont have a garage or engenering skills. didnt a few third gens come ith a borg warner 10 bolt? how hard wold it be to beef my 12 bolt?

You can build up a 10 bolt, but it can only take so much. The problem is in the actual differential size. If I get around to it I will take pictures to show the difference between the stock 10 bolt and my 9" Detroit, the difference is pretty obvious

yes that would be nice to see. actually i just talked to a guy who lives near me i can get his ford 9'' for 150 bucks i hurd there incredibly strong how hard would it be to put that in my third gen? lol im also on a very tight budget because i just finished my motor

There's still alot of modifications because of the suspension setup on a 3rd and 4th gen F-body. Mostly due to the torque arm.

How much power are you going to be making?
