1970 Dodge Challenger T/A
The guy that is letting me work on my car at his house has one of these.. They are pretty rare, only made in 1970 but I dont know the exact number... I believe pics may have been posted of it before, Im not sure. But to be a nice guy, over past month I have been building a model replica of his exact car for him, down to every last detail as a surprise. I dont have any pics of his car now because Im at school, and I also dont have any pics of the model, those are at home too... But this is what they look like:
http://www.swaqvalley.com/Blueprints...llenger_TA.jpg Sorry for the page stretch for all the page stretch nazis here. Im almost done with it now, and Im pretty satisfied with it. Sure theres some errors, but this is the best job Ive ever done on a model, and the paint is amazing (plum crazy). Ill be sure to post some finished pictures at the end of the week before I give it to him. Adric, if you have some of those progress pics available, feel free to post them. |

There it is, I gave it to him last weekend, and he loved it. I ran into one major issue.. I spend about 2-3 hours pefecting the silver trim around the windows, engine bay, door handles and such.. it was near perfect, and looked great. Then I cleared it for the final time, and all the silver paint started to run... i was PISSED. It left little streaks going down the car, and my efforts were shattered. The night before I gave it to him, I went over the streaked parts and used some flat/gloss black in non-noticible areas to try to cover it up.. the silver isnt very noticible anymore, and you can only see where i covered it up if you look close. Im guessing it was just the metallic paint that had a bad reaction with gloss. Anyway, it turned out good, its the best model Ive ever done. |
