700r4 Vs. 4l60e

Whats the biggest diffrence between these two transmissions, ive been look at the 700r4's for the 67 to gain another gear so i dont top out so fast. I was also looking at the 4l60e but i don't know what the main diffrence is.

4l60 replaced the 700 same basic trans but computer controlled not great for aftermarket installs, but supposed to be a little beefier stock (not too many performance versions available though) teh 4l85e will handle whatever you want to throw at it (was developed for the turbo diesel trucks)

don't buy the 4l60e if your looking for it to hold power, i've been through one when I had my intake and exhaust, and the next thing i do to it, it's gonna go, it's already hesitating shifts.

man i'd go with the 700R4 if i was you.

700 is easier to retrofit, and tci makes one hell of a stout trans

Mikerock 03-07-2005 09:07 PM

thats what i was thinking, the 700r4 is much cheaper too,

archemedes 03-07-2005 10:22 PM

about $200 usually
