If you're on the street, don't go anybigger than 15's. The ride will suck on a bigger wheel. Plus, 16's just don't look right.

yea true that specific kinda jetta doesn't need big wheels to look good
as long as its bbs it all good

No it won't :retard:

Clearly you've never been in a MK II w/ good suspension... if you have crappy suspension it'll ride like on 15's even.

I can say that by far the best riding MK II I've been in is J.P's Golf, I was impressed with the ride every time I got in his car... With his 18's on it rode like a Cadillac, seriously. I believe he has fully adjustable B&G suspension...

I would go with the 15 bbs, had 17's on and took them off. To big for the ride.

Ok, so you managed to supposedly find one MK2 that rides well on 18's. :retard: Every MK2 I've ever been in was a harsh ride on anything bigger than 15's. If he had 18's, with suspension travel, he's obivously rolled the fenders, and whatever else, to make sure it can actually work.
18's on a MK2 would only allow for a maybe 40 series tire, and around here, that ride would suck.

17s are cheap and look really good if you drop the car... anybody know what size the chrome Porsche rims were on the mint green gti?

This MK2 with 18's doesn't look too bad, but there's no way I'd want to drive it on a public road.
GTcars, I'm going to assume you're talking about these rims.Clicky

GT.R 09-24-2006 09:19 AM

yep... those are them... bought some parts off of a guy once that showed me his black MK2 GTI that had those on it too... the car looked sick...

rabbitman 09-24-2006 09:33 AM

There are I think 3 sets of those for sale right now on Vortex. One guy's got them up with adapters, everything you'd need to put them on a 4x100 car.:smilie_da

Again, another car that was comfortable to drive... it was also daily driven like you see it in tho's pics...

if you have a decent suspension setup, you have nothing to worry about
