93 hatch si, how long till she blowes

hey this is just to see what you guys think ok my car stock stock stock. has 386thoughsand on it, my brotherinlaw said i should beat the motor it will be fine but like common you can only beat it so much befor it breaks. he said i can drag it but i dont know its getting to the point like the engine runs great but common i dont know it is a honda so you never now i gusse ill find out when i start beating it a little. another thing a couple of guys at honda think that a stock ls in a 93 si hatch my car wont do 15 secs at the 1/4 mile what do you think? thanks for your inpute

drift_n_shift 02-03-2007 10:57 PM

lol 386k. we should start our own club, mine has 334 on it :retard:

iunno, when i got my car and was learning stick, i remember i missed a shift (shift needed a bushing badly) and stepped on it. went to 9k or something, but still didnt blow. the z6 is a good motor, but the more you beat on it, the less longer its going to survive. if you definately know your getting an ls i'd say beat on it all you want because if it blows... oh well, you still are getting a motor. if the LS motor is the B18B (125hp no?), you car wont do 15's. with the z6 in it, it runs 16.5 or so, so with the dohc, prolly around the same time, or more (b's are heavier in weight).

edit. please give us your def. of beating cause for everyone, its different...

hmmm.... well if your beating on it constantly small things will show for this. If its not burning oil right now i am sure it will if your reving the off it. If you plan on keeping the car and changing the engine then go on and beat the car. However if you want some money for the old engine i wouldn't do too much damage. I guess this is all for you to deciede and like drift_n_shift said everyone beats on there car differently.

A B18B has 142hp and 127ft/lbs. This is a substantial increase over stock. You will see mid 15's and have alot more potential than you have now. Oh, and how do you own a honda, have almost 1400 posts, and still give wrong info to people about one of the most common civic swaps?

I don't blame him, how can you possibly remeber all the specs for various engines off the top of your head? He took an estimated guess with a question mark and still was close. I agree however that he should be in the 15's with an ls engine if it is in healthy state, bolt ons, good driver ect. :dunno:

i did use a question mark... i was thinking of the ones that came in 90-91 tegs smart ass. its still a b18b. even with a b18b in a civic SI (not cx, dx, vx), i will say high 15s (maybe low 16's depending on driver) in STOCK form. as for more potential, maybe. but i will say you will see better results with a d for a lower amount of cash

well my definiton of beating the out of the car is shifting just before rev line or on it doesint matter, have launch control on the car and use it, full throttle shifts(with a chip so not red line) racing it on street/1/4 just going fast and shifting hard, using the power i got. as for not making much power and not getting into mid 14s the engine will have a little help not much just to let it breath oh stage 3 clutch in it, i think i can hit around mid 14 with stock motor, header, full exughst, and a stage 3 clutch, and some good tires. Because my friend with a b18 older model like drift and shift said around 125hp and 110 or so for tq and he does 15s on street tires, and he is a little lighter than mine but thats because hes a 1990 i think cx so i should be running high 14 at the least as for potential it has not to much but decent i dont want retarted amounts of hp in my daily drive that will come later on but eventually i want to put high compresstion pistons in 11:1 or so with a pnp, cams, and chipped/ tuned really good then it will have the full exughst to help a header, intake pfft, and some nice suspention to help out and i will be happy with that for a couple years

And my ls will be the new one so like 140hp 130tq something like that?

One more thing the service records were brought up for my car and it doesint have 386thousand it has about 500thousand on it

rich got a teg 07-18-2007 09:05 PM

as long as the car is taken good care of it should be ok for some time and ls in hb does mid to high 15s depending on driver

Anthony Arnone 07-18-2007 10:55 PM

Man dont bother beating on a great car if theirs nothing wrong with it, its gonna cost u more than the cars worth for a new motor anyways so just leave it alone

piggy96 07-19-2007 08:08 PM

actually a 90-91 teg has a b18a, jus lettin u know, but i do agree with a good driver and the car being fully intact it shud run in the mid 15s, strip the interior and any amount of weight u can u MIGHT see a 15.0...
