all these posts about coolant leaks, cracked radiator tanks, and now i find myself in the same pickle.

yet unlike the rest of you, i work in the field :) whereas most of you would pay almost 200 to fix such a problem, i only pay 60 to have it done in a timely manner. shops get special treatment :D

and since my crank seal is leaking, i figure i can do it now...so being in the field...look what i got for 10.68:

lmao a cyclops pig... your a lucky one

NoRiceInside 08-10-2006 12:57 AM

damn that is a cyclops pig. very creative mike.

and matt...its something like 3 hours.

i actually pulled a grant tonight. took everything off in about 2 hours then decided to take a break ;) while im in here im gonna change my timing chain too. its got tons of slack...more than i expected at nearly 70k. so tomorrow after i drop off my radiator i'll pick up a timing chain...16.88 btw :D

blue89vert 08-10-2006 12:59 AM

are u putting a new cam in? u may as well since u will almost have it out lol

NoRiceInside 08-10-2006 01:00 AM

unfortunately no. i keep saying, damn this is the perfect time. just 28 more bolts (intake and rockers) and i can do a cam...but unless someone wants to donate...i dont have the dough for a new cam. that will come later...

blue89vert 08-10-2006 01:06 AM

cant u get it cheap through your work??? just take the one from the 350 your building lol

paarman97maro 08-10-2006 01:13 AM

yeah I only payed 70 to fix mine too... I guess youre not the only one in the world able to fix a coolant leak for cheap

NoRiceInside 08-10-2006 01:17 AM

well what was yours? mines a cracked tank...

anyway i cant necessarily get an aftermarket cam for cheap. for that i'd need the owner to use his reseller's license and he would charge me more to get a cut...yeah...hes an ***.

besides im not ready for something like that, i want basic bolt ons first.

paarman97maro 08-10-2006 01:43 AM

Dont know exactly what it was, Im assuming it was the water pump, but I changed the water pump, the lower hose, 2 gallons of coolant, and this little gay plastic elbow all for around 70... Much less than I thought it was going to be.

NoRiceInside 08-10-2006 01:53 AM

yeah that aint bad. the tank however is the side of the radiator. it is pressed on so to speak. i could get the tank and change it myself, but its a pain in the ***...so i'll just pay someone to get it done in half the time and done right.

2Poor4Z 08-10-2006 02:12 AM

ye that gay little plastic elbow you speak off caused me to pull my entire upper and lower intake plenum cause i didnt even know that pipe was there.. it was cracked and leaking and i thought my lower intake gasket was shot.. wasnt till about 14 hours into the project that i figured out the real problem.. o well with over 150k miles it wasnt a bad idea to replace all the engine gasket

paarman97maro 08-10-2006 02:28 AM

I think that gasket might be slightly leaking on mine also now that I looked at it.. Its not enough to matter tho I dont think... My coolant leak is gone. But yeah, Im glad someone on ftv6 mentioned that elbow... Mine didnt appear to be leaking, but the o-ring looked a little wore... it was only $3 and I had it apart, couldnt hurt to change it after 100k.

Amurican_Muscle 08-10-2006 02:51 AM

Oh man ... These coolant systems! Yeah, I decided to get a new radiator. It's gonna be here tommarow, and then I'll throw her on, and hope to god something else won't break. :p
