Ok, i dont know how many times i have posted this on other forums in general. I have a car problem. Currently I am driving a '98 Civic LX. Now the problem lies here. Everytime it rains, and the car is outside, moisture gets trapped in the engine. When i start her up, she squeaks like no tomorrow. After about 10 mins later of driving, she stops. I know its the moisture clearing out. But I took it to Honda, they replaced the belts and said she was fixed. Yeah for the first 3 rain storms, and then was back to not normal. I have no clue exactly waht is happening. I poped the hood the other day, spilled washer fluid in there and listened, appeared to be coming from the belt that htey so bluntly said they replaced, which is bullshit. Now im thinking its the belt or an alternator problem, but it is impossible to fixl

i was going to say replace the belts.. then i read to midway.. :(

maybe the honda guys can give some insight.

Mississauga honda is a bunch of fools, they cannot help, when i got into an accident, they must my trunk in BACKWARDS. :newbie:. Like how can you do that? Then then didnt put the weather stripping correctly in for the trunk either, so it leaked. But yeah, i have given up on these Honda people, and am out to fix the problem myself.

is it a belt-squeeling or is it possibly the alternator bearings on their way out?

Take the belts off and spin each accessory to see if they squeek.

If nothing's squeeking, put it back together and spray the out of the pulleys with brake-cleaner while the engine is running. Try NOT to spray it in the alternator. Not that it'll hurt anything, but it's not good.

That usually helps.... And then if all else fails, there's a "stop squeel" you can get at autoparts stores.

I had a similar problem , it wasnt really when it was raining but it did happen constantly where I heard a squeeking sound coming from the belts. This was the first couple weeks that I had bought the car. I called the guy up who I bought it from and he said he had put on new belts and when I took a look they did look like new. I took it into my local mech shop and they couldnt figure it out and from there I went to Honda where they told me the same thing "we cant figure it out". Driving on the 401 one night and the squeeking got really bad all at once my head lights and dash were now dimm , puzzled I pulled over and popped my hood to find f#$%en belts everywhere to make a even longer story short they guy who did the belts months ago when the car was first purchased did not tighten the nut on the damper pully enough and it was a frag loose (causing the belts to squeek) and then vibrating to the point when the pulley came really loose . Not trying to scare you just giving some advice from a lesson I learned :) hope you figure it out

yea check the pullys them selves.....the idler pully on my ram pick up squeeks mad ..
