best price of BOVs?

I need one to go on my non-turbo vehicles so I can get that pssshs pssssh sound, I think teh tornado thingy is making too much boost lol :supergay:

yea, too lazy to order 'em from the states and pay stupid duty, who's got the best price for say a ricilicious turbosmart type rfl?

SuprAdam 06-25-2005 02:33 PM

It is turbo XS rfl

And dont buy that piece of . I used it before, it was WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY to en loud (hence the name, real en loud). It won't hold boost over 17-18psi either.

I recomend the hks ssqv, but only if it is a big turbo (t4, 60+mm), otherwise it sounds like . Chirping bird.

Personally I am using the Blitz DD at the moment.

Oh, and the cheapest place is ebay, or car forums with rich people on them (mk4 guys on supraforums, they sell expensive for next to nothing.)

They can hold at minimum 25psi out of the box, I've seen this, plus if you need more clamping power you just add washers, perhaps the one you bought had some washers taken out?

I HAVE a HKS SSQV sitting in my trunk, its broken thou, and I would like to be able to use the pipe and all that, but damn HKS is expensive, and I'm only running a big 16G, plus, its a box, no1 will know the sound is from the box on wheels.

btw, thanks for telling me that, I'll check out Supraforums, its funny that way eh, people are selling used HREs and Iforge for like $1500 on ClubLexus too.

Personally, mine never leaked boost, then again I did not go over 15psi.

A LOT of people have issues with the RFL though...But it does have one of the largest valve openings, I believe the Tial and Godzilla are the only bigger ones (not 100% sure on this, maybe the hks racing bypass valve as well).

Look at the Monza ones on ebay (hks knock-offs) they work just as good as hks ones (they are actually re-built hks units), and only cost about $100us, even cheaper if you pick one up at a car show (darknights??) They are located in Ottawa so shipping takes 24 hours and no duty fees.

really eh, I"m going to look into that, I don't like how they say "holds certain psi", but at what CFM? I can bet that my new 16G pushes same amount of air at like 10psi at my old 13C @ 18psi, my old CBV sounded good, it wasn't like bird screeching or anything, just bit too quiet sometime.

I wonder how does SARD R2D2 sounds.

Supra90T 06-27-2005 01:31 AM

I use the "monza" ssqv replica on my setup...I've got my pte67 up to 16ish psi so far(tuning still) and the bov held fine. I'm planning on running dual(have another waiting to go on) to ease the load off of just the one since I've got a LOT of air going through it

But ssqv is a more high pitched noise...
blitz is a deep loud "woosh", i like it more personally...
apexi is similar to blitz but not as loud
and greddy's even more high pitched than the hks from the ones Ive heard

HKS is my fav out of the bunch.

Its not the Problem that TurboXS RFL holds boost...its the fact that its a POS and the valve tends to stick if not oiled regularly(this doesnt happen to everyone but it has happened to several people using it including me)

And yes it is VERY loud but its not even a good noise. It sounds like a freakin tractor trailer air brakes going off. I remember making a turn and going to shift and seeing an old lady actually jump the curb cause she thought my car was going to explode lol

Oh I did that many many times....

I believe just last week in Marks supra there was a group of people walking on the side of the road just as he started to go into boost. (3" straight pipe exhaust, no cats, no resonator, no muffler, open wastegate dump tube, hks ssqv replica and 67mm turbo.) Needless to say....everyone stumbled and turned around and one person actually tripped and fell to the ground in fright.
