Big Dreams?

So...I've got another great idea. More of a goal, really.

LS1 in a 2nd gen Camaro Z28.

My dad's a mechanic, we have our own shop. Labor isn't an issue. I thinkI can get a used LS1 (60-70k mi.) for about $2,000 complete. Wiring harness, accessories, ECM, etc. Now, what unknowns am I looking at? will the stock motor mounts line up? (probably a lamer question) I'd have to get an electric fan setup, too..right? To me it doesn't seem like a big swap. What am I not considering?

I think the LS1 is seen as "the" motor of this generation, and I would love to have the power, potential, and reliability of modern engine technology in a classic (to me) F-Body. Might take me a year or so to save up the money (woo, HS part-time jobs!) but it's something I'd definitely like to commit my money to.

Opinions? Insults? Better ideas? I'll take 'em all.

it's been done, so it's possible, and parts are cheap really, not to mention the hp per dollar is very good

That's pretty much exactly what I wanted to hear. After checking out NastyZ28 and LS1Tech a little bit more, I've learned that it's not really a difficult swap at all.

Sounds like I have a new goal. :eleph:

Yea That would be sweet, I would love to own a 2nd gen with a LSX motor.

That's my dream, take a classic car and put a modern engine in it for it's reliability and hp.
