I've got a "JDM TyT3" 1988 Silvia K (S13) with a CA18DET in it.
What are your questions? |
Well, basically i guess what im asking is how easy is it to get parts and get work done on that engine, im gonna be importing an s13 probably around october, so if it was difficult/exceedingly expensive to have work done on the CA18DET, then i would just look for one that already has an sr20 swapped into it

The CA18DE (as in the non-turbo version) was sold in the 1987 Pulsar NX SE, almost all of the parts are interchangeable.
The CA18ET (sohc but turbo) was sold in the 80's 200SX. Combine these with the fact that 90% of the rest of the car is shared with the domestic 240sx and you'll have no trouble finding parts. I've had no trouble buying parts for the CA. Be warned though, if you get a proper silvia and not a 180SX and smash one of the square headlights you'll have to pay through the nose for a new one. They only came on the 88 and 89 models and apparently a lot of people prefer them over the projector lights. |
just go to any engine shop (mostly modifed engine shops) and ask, also search the net.
Goodluck!! :thumbsup |
