It looks to be some kind of De Tomaso (Italian). I've seen this car online before, but I can't seem to remember the name...

Kuztom Freak 05-19-2008 03:58 PM

not an rx7 - proportins and dimentions are off, based on wheel base and the door, to me it looks like it could be a rebodies 240sx

2nd one looks like an rx7 like the above post.

ae86kid86 06-09-2008 04:26 PM

ok let me explane the 1st pic is our mestery car the second is a 2nd gen rx-7 its a comparisson

QuickGT 06-12-2008 12:27 PM

I would have to agree with Kuztom Freak,

That looks like a late 89/90's 240SX with a wide body kit.

Note* the door handles and mirrors are the same, Also the 4 bolt wheels, and gas door location. and you can see, The sail panels are longer then a 240, but it seems to be part of a rear hatch conversion as part of the kit, which would account for the lower tail lights.

neat looking car!

ae86kid86 06-12-2008 05:51 PM

i asked if i could look at it yester day and the hatch dont move its a solid part and the vin number is gone the owner said it might be an italian car but all its identity was distroyed.

Pop the hood, see what's it got for a motor, that should tell you everything.
And if the motor is gone, then look through the interior, you're bound to find something in there, a tag or a logo or even a door plate with some kind of identification on it, paint number, trim number.. something!

bring a digital camera and get a shot of the interior, I've had 4 240's.. I can almost describe them in my sleep. lol

Good luck...

dropz_ 06-12-2008 07:15 PM

porche???

ae86kid86 06-12-2008 07:32 PM

Well, if you do a google for the TRV, you'll see that just about every model year was different.. and there are quite a few models to start out with.
But it's a TVR.

Any chance that guy wants to sell it? lol

Or are you after it for yourself?

ae86kid86 06-14-2008 05:02 PM

yea maybe ya think a 350ci chev wud fit

If they can shoehorn a 426 Hemi into a first gen civic, I'm sure you can squeeze a small block chev into it without too much trouble.

Use a mid plate setup, it'll be a lot easier then any other style.

:headbang:

ae86kid86 06-14-2008 05:48 PM

oh sh** really a 426 in a civic wow im gona buy that TVR then he said $200 its yours and that it is

by the way that was an option it was the 350i and the 200i was a pinto i-4 the 280i 2.8 V-6

QuickGT 06-14-2008 07:16 PM

Do yourself a favour, get the paper work figured out first BEFORE you buy it.

You said it had no ownership, or serial number, you're going to have to go to the MTO and get the forms from them.

Without any documentation on the car, it's going to be a huge hastle to get it into your name, so be sure the car is worth it, or you may end up just owning a giant paper weight. lol

I had to do this once a few years ago when I bought a 55 VW Beetle... Took about 4 months all together, but I had a lot of tracking down to do, I was able to find the last registered owner with help from the MTO and the police. I gave him 100 bucks to come to the MTO with me, and sign a paper infront of them that allowed me to make the transfer.

You may have less of a problem, if the guy has some kind of receipt from a past owner, but even still, your going to have to find a way to get the original VIN number in order for the MTO to give you a sellers package.

Good luck!

ae86kid86 06-16-2008 04:49 PM

what about if it got a custom vin my friend did that too his truck pretty sure it cost him $300

QuickGT 06-16-2008 07:44 PM

Well, it's possible, you may be able to have it deemed as a "Kit Car".. (unlikely though)
But you'd still have just as much crap to go through as any other way.

When you build a kit car as their called, or a home built car, you'll have to bring all related documentation before a justice of the piece, and do all that swearing crap, lol
bill of sale, all receipts, engine block serial number, you name it, everything you have from start to finish, just as if you you built it yourself.

you'll need to make up your own VIN, the MTO will have all the forms and info on what you need to do.
The car will need a safety, and depending on year, a emissions test as well.
Then you should be able to get plates.

It's a long road in some cases, but could be worth it...

My advice though, would be to try and get ahold of the currant registered owner, will make life a WHOLE lot easier.

Good luck!

dropz_ 06-17-2008 05:21 PM

i know what it is hehehe

it looks like a porche:smile:

Nope, it's not a porche, or even a Porsche, It's a Early 80's TRV.
and if ae86kid86 would be a sport and let me know where it is, I'd be happy to go have a look at it... no really just look. lol
Don't trust me, I'd buy it.

l guess the second one is a gen rx-7, you need to verify about it

DrewEstes 02-11-2009 03:20 PM

Actually - This is a pretty special car, well-known to TVR buffs as :The White Elephant". It was the personal ride of TVR's then-owner, Peter Wheeler. It was a one-off special, built up from an SE series car (I forget if it was a 400SE or a 450SE). By Built-Up, I mean that they actually overlaid fiberglass over the existing bodywork. This car was also the prototype for TVR's use of the Holden V8 in its cars. Blah, Blah, Blah - the rest of the story is here... and its a good story. Sorry I can't do full url, new member and all...

I gotta call BS on this.

You're afraid of an old army veteran who won't let you see the VIN, You claim it's in your backyard, and it's clearly NOT.

Firm 02-20-2009 03:34 PM

^^^^ This guy beat me too it.....I knew it was a special one off TVR, but I was gunna call it the white rhino, lol. I find it pretty hard to believe that this car is(was) in a backyard in Scarborough.....BS!

According to the website DrewEstes posted the car is currently being restored....The pic the O.P posted was taken when it was parked behind the TVR factory in england(NOT Scarborough).....even in the O.P's cropped version you can see another unpainted TVR body on the ground at the bottom left.

Pretty lame attempt at some B.S ae86kid86
