fan probs
I just got a 91 grand am for free from my brother in law and i am fixing it so i can sell it. I am putting all new brakes on it soon. It has an overheating problem that i thought was the water pump but it isn't b/c if i let it idle than it cools back down. The fan never turns on! What can i do to fix this? It isn't the fan motor, i already checked it.
Please help! All this money is goin into the camaro when i sell it!! |

hook the power wire to an ignition switched line with a fuse cost you about a buck
where can i find an ignition switch line?.........
use a test light turn the key on and probe, you find one that lights th light shut the switch off, if the light goes off you found one, or go the the fuse box and use the line that says ignition
is there a fuse box under the hood that i can't find? lol, i only see the one inside the car and it's all for accesories inside the car
inside one works fine, tehre is a fuse for underhood stuff there too
radio power wire? or would it only come on when the radio does?
It could be as simple as the underhood relay for the fans not working. Did you try that? If you don't want to mess with that try and find a wire in the underhood fuse block that is only on with the motor running and run a relay off of that to power the fans. If you can try and find the wire for the fuel pump relay and use that to power your relay. Reason being is that the fans will come initially, but if the key is left on the fans won't kill the battery, they will shut back off when the fuel pump shuts off due to pressure in the line.
It might sound confusing, but I think other than fixing it the right way its the safest way. |
