Feelin Guilty...

My friend came home from college this weekend and brought her boyfriend. Well he drives a 2001 Supercharged Mustang. So I was like let me drive it so he threw me the keys. So I hoped in a GEEZ! I was made very happy, that thing hauled a$$. I felt guilty for liking it so much, still would never get a mustang, i dispise the interiors, but geez it was fast.

JimmyFrance 03-20-2005 01:33 AM

fast is fast, speed is addicting. not go back to your 6 and it feels slow as hell. I know the feeling and i hate it :(

RFF 03-20-2005 01:34 AM

Anything supercharged better be at least quick. Even if you supercharged that six you would haul ***.

Mike Jones 03-20-2005 01:47 AM

Don't feel guilty, just because they aren't that fast stock doesn't mean they aren't fast supercharged!

MeenZ28 03-20-2005 03:37 AM

Great, you'll have an awsome exaust system on your car and still ***** about not haveing a V8. :banghead:

meh...i doubt it. i was actually kind of happy with the small amount of power boost i got from the intake, maybe these 2 will give me enough Umph to keep goin with the 6

SLPowerZ 03-20-2005 11:34 AM

i don't wanna discourage you, but i went through the same thing you're going through now when i had my 6. i just ended up wastin money on it and gettin a z in the end anyways.

That boost you got from your intake is all in your head. Youll get a boost from the full exhaust, a noticable one most likely (no idea what stock diameter is). Your car your ideas if it were up to me id get an 8er if i were you and your goal is to really go fast. If your goal is just a daily driven vehicle. Hey stay with what you got. But if you wanna go fast its either get 2 more cylidners or wind up spending a lot more on 6 than if you had 2 more. Insurance up the ***? Get liability and dont drive like an asshat.

yea supercharged :)

If you say so  superchargers arent cheap. Plus then he has to change pistons if he wants to boost alot so his compression is real low, plus a lot of other factors. Its not like oh lets just throw a super charger on it itll be fast. Leave the engine building to the big boys :nana:

JimmyFrance 03-20-2005 04:02 PM

If its all in my head then how come 2 people i didnt tell i had the exhaust said that my car felt faster? Im 90% positive i can feel a difference. It had to, i took out like...5 pieces of the stock intake and added one thick as hell tube with a filter. How could that NOT make a difference?

JimmyFrance 03-20-2005 04:03 PM

kind of a ******* comment

archemedes 03-20-2005 04:04 PM

an intake system adds about 5-10 hp on an other wise stock engine unless the filter was so clogged the engine would barely run

You'll go faster but down the road i just think you would have been happier with an 8er. Hey maybe not, maybe youll love what your doing and if so good 4 you. Im just goin off of what i would think everybodys different. Im sorry 4 commin off as an ******* that was not my intent.

JimmyFrance 03-20-2005 04:18 PM

meh its alright. Im just sick of getting **** for my 6, which is one of the main reason im modding out mine to make it faster, so itll be a respectable 6. Ive lost ONE race in my car even before the intake, beating modded imprezas AWD, modded integras and what not. So according to everyone else around here,im pretty fast,so why not just make myself faster? On a different note, i got this car just under 9 months ago for my 16th birthday, its in immaculant (sp?) condition with low miles and ive yet to have a problem with it. Itd be smarter just to add bolt on mods to get a little more power and keep it until im 18 and sell it and get my Camaro LS1 like ive always wanted.

97z2801ss 03-20-2005 06:56 PM

Hey I was talkin about the mustang dude, and I do know this.... :booty:

Camarocam 03-20-2005 11:13 PM

 I plan on supercharging/turbocharging mine in the future.... Everybody has different goals. And engine building is for everyone...

archemedes 03-21-2005 12:59 AM

Engine building is for everyone...true...to an extent. Its really not too difficult you are right. Pretty much anybody who wants to learn how can do it. Doing it right is a whole other matter. WHATS THE FIRING ORDER ON YOUR 6ER!!!!! lol no lookin it up now, lets start with the basics :D

why not look it up, memorizing the firing order isn't that important, basics what is, and how do you use plastigauge

lol how dare you. You take a piece. Put it onto your main or rod bearing torque it down un torque it take the piece out and match it up to the little supplied clearance ruler to tell the clearance. Any other BASIC questions :nana:

JesasaurusRex 03-21-2005 01:57 AM

Also memorizing your firing order is important because the first time i put headers on (LONG LONG time ago, same car tho, yes i love her) i took all the spark plug boots off. And just put them back on by length because i didnt know that it was important for them to be matched up. I had no idea how a distributor worked (i know she doesnt have to worry about that but still) and luckily enough i got all the right spark plug wires on but 2. Then i was like **** she seems slower and sounds shitty (guess thats how headers make it sound :lolsign: ) anywayz posted it on thirdgen.org and got flamed for not knowing it mattered which way you put the plug wires on in relation to the distributor. Fixed it, hauled ***. It is important and in my book is basic. If not in urs whats basic? Knowing how to change your oil?

archemedes 03-21-2005 12:34 PM

knowing where the service manual is, what's the torque sequence for the cast intake (yes it's different than the aluminum) what I'm saying is don't worry about memorizing know how to get the info first

Start at one of the inside bolts and circle your way out. No i dont remember which one to start at nor does it matter. Inside to outside and you're good.

archemedes 03-21-2005 11:34 PM

always start inside starting outside can cause a slight vaccuum leak (there is actually a number sequnce the service manual specifies)

JesasaurusRex 03-22-2005 02:32 AM
