Getting a new clutch......
Well everyone, after my races with 1badz i have been forced to buy a new clutch. On wednesday i am ordering a stage 2 z06 corvette clutch, new lightened z06 flywheel, and pressure plate. This clutch is supposed to handle up to 500 hp and 600 torque. It says it will increase my torque 20% which right now i am at about 340 so we are looking at about a 68 ft/lb torque increase and puts me at 408 ft/lb. Not to shabby for under $600.00

DEFINATELY do not expect to see those numbers. Why not go with a SPEC clutch?

i would def stick with that z06 vette clutch aaron ecspecially if its like a oem stage 2.. like gm clutch....... best way to go...

that clutch should be badass but adam is right u cant really go with those numbers because everyone advertises hp/torque increases that are outrageous.

A clutch gives you NO increase in horse power/ torque what so ever. It wont slip as much as the standard clutch so you wont be loseing as much horsepower/torque as with ur standard clutch but you certainly wont be gaining any. Sept 4 maybe the light weight flywheel which i guarantee you won't notice.

What he said is true, no clutch is gonna give u a TQ or HP increase... So dont get your hopes up..

I am thinking other wize. At first i began to think that the advertisement was false also but i thought back to my old car when i put a stage 2 in and felt the difference. The car will catch the gears extremely better and with a torque arm place will maximize my launchs i would say close to 20%. Also the automotive engineering professor here hinted at this also.

sure, it may catch your gears better, but i will swear to you, go get a dyno on your car, install the clutch, and dyno it agian, i'd be willing to bet you a million dollars you won't gain 20% torque or even 10%.

he is not saying that... he is like a 20% better take off... causing his clutch to hook harder.. and get out of the hole... he is capable of using all the power he has... instead of slacking some off with a weak clutch...

And I agree with Adam's earlier statement... Screw the GM clutch, guys get rid of the ZO6 clutch everyday for a Spec stage 2 or Spec stage 3 clutch, and spend less money... I had a Spec in my old Cobra and it was the shizzle Go spec screw STOCK |

Mike, thank you for agreeing, 100% correct. All i'm saying is you'd be much more satisfied with a SPEC clutch, seeing as how it'll last long and actually hook better.

why use stock parts for performance? that's just kinda dumb imo

I got a centerforce dual friction, can't compare to the spec clutchs but im sure theyre just as good.
