Is this a good or bad one?

Hi everybody!
Im new to this forum, but since I started to look for a Z28, I felt that I needed somewhere to talk about them, and LEARN about them...

Anyways, I found one I liked, It has pretty much miles on it, but lots done to it, What do you guys think, is it worth it??

it's a decent car, but it's been beat to hell and back (magazine guys are known for abussing a car)

SLPowerZ 06-13-2005 10:43 PM

ya it seems like a pretty good car, reliability may be a factor tho

camaro94 06-14-2005 12:16 AM

looks nice. Like those wheels.

Mike Jones 06-14-2005 12:31 AM

I'm sure the car looks and sounds great with the exhaust mods and new paint but like it was stated before, coming from magazine editor's I'm sure the car was beat. I mean if you were given a free Z28 to modify and test at the track wouldn't you beat it, I know I would.

Swedish 06-14-2005 05:06 AM

tru tru... I would probably beat that sucka! plus, 130000 miles is pretty much... But ****, its clean... should I, or shouldnt I buy it... Probably smarter to buy a stock one for a lot less, that has a lot less miles on it.. man, I need help with this one...

69z-28 06-14-2005 09:39 AM

to be honest i think thats a pretty good price with all it had done, becuase you will never get a stock one and get all those parts on it for the money you will buy that one, but a lot of people say that mods dont make any money for a car, but if you plan on doing that stuff anyways i saygo for it. go look at it and give it a good long test drive. i think its a fairly good deal but the only thing is the miles are kinda high like you said, but i have 120k on my 93 and knock on wood, it still runs really good.

Swedish 06-14-2005 10:31 AM

^^^^ yeah, the miles are a burn, but like you said, It has plenty done to it... but if itll break down, it wont do much good will it? Ill just have to look at it, drive it, and, see what happenes. hopefully he might wanna let it go for a little less. Im a good talker :P

yea I wish i woulda bought 1 with a few mods atleast woulda saved me some loot but ohh well... haha, if u like it go for it im sure they took care of normal maintenance on it and even if they did beat it go by a stock one from a kid or even an adult im sure it was beat...

archemedes 06-14-2005 03:05 PM

miles on newer cars don't mean a whole lot, the price is a little high, but it is a magazine car that adds some value

Swedish 06-14-2005 05:02 PM

yeah, but since i got the money, cash, he might want to let his baby go, If you know what I mean. $6000 Ill be like, "How bout these dollars right here, right now?" He cant say no to that right? :D

archemedes 06-14-2005 06:34 PM

it's high by about 2 grand so start at $5500 ($1500 for magazine coverage)

I wouldn't buy a car with any mods. You don't know who installed them and you now know the car's been beat. When I was looking for my LS1 I almost bought a 383 LT1 and another supercharged LT1 but I knew that's not what I wanted.

69z-28 06-14-2005 10:58 PM

ill tell u what right now...my car has some small mods. its got a good start to being pretty fast just needs some more bolt ons and whatnot. my car as far as i know has the original clutch, the aftermarket ZR1's and 275/40/17s that were put on are very nice, but the rear tires are basically slicks that dont hook to well. i know the guy beat on my car, and i know he enjoyed every bit of it.lol. i went to look at it, put down a small fee for him to hold it until 2 weeks later when i would come back and pick it up...2 weeks later i went to pick it up on sunday morning, everythign was great, and he even told me that he raced his other friends LT1 on friday night and beat it etc etc. i dont know any other car (camaro) that can take a beating like they do. my car has 120k on it and there is a small squeak that you can hear when rolling in neutral or at low rpm, i think its in the breaks, and my rear main leaks like every LT1, and my pinion seal leaked, but i fixed that. so basically i have one decent size leak(about a quarter size drop) overnight. thats the only thing wrong with my car. if you buy somethign with the intention of modding it, why not get soemthing that already has a good start. they prolly beat on it like a magazine company beats on cars, not how a 16 year old punk with daddy's car would. they didnt go driving through fields and ditches and go hill hopping. the only thing that was beat on were the tires.lol. i personally would go after it and give it a good test drive, then make your decision. theres a lot of guys running 150 shots of nitrous on somewhat built LT1s but completely stock bottom ends with 150k miles on them.
