“California Highway Patrol will launch a 30-day speeding ticket

frenzy in CA starting January 25, 2006. The state estimates

that 22 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets.

3 million will go to pay California Highway Patrol officer

overtime. There will be 90 California Highway Patrol officers on

duty at all times patrolling the 7 freeways. They are the

following: 73, 55, 133, 241, 57, 5, 605, 10, 60, 210 freeways.

Now 7 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every Califo -

rnia Highway Patrol officers are supposed to pull a car over

and write a ticket every 10 minutes

They have issued 50 brand new unmarked Crown Victoria cruisers

and they are bringing all their part timers on full time. If

you live or work in California you must take one of these

freeways. It's up to you how fast you are going when they do.

This is a test by the CHP to raise the extra funds for the

State of California. The California State Legislators dreamed

up this program to help close the budget gap. So be safe and

don't forget speeding tickets are on you.

Bernotas05 01-28-2006 11:52 PM

Knuckle_Breaker ver.2.0 01-29-2006 05:05 AM

well, i use highway 80 and 4 so i think im okay, lol, i dont know all the numbers yet but whatever, just cant speed too much

97z2801ss 01-29-2006 10:54 AM

yea dont spped and youll b okay

MeenZ28 01-30-2006 02:08 AM

Funny thing is - during my commute times, if you can get it over 15mph on the 210 i'd be amazed. The 605 is usually pretty clean till about workman mill RD but people drive like idiots anyway, usually best to keep the speeds down anyway.

In breif:
State of MI is launching a 30 day speeding ticket frenzy designed to
raise 9 MILLION dollars in revenue from speeding tickets (1 million to fund trooper overtime.
50 State Troopers will be on duty at all times patrolling the 6 major freeways:

I-75 N and S
I-94 from Port Huron to AA
I-696- the whole distance
I-275 N and S
M-10 Lodge from downtown to Southfield
I-96 from Detroit to M-14

This source says 5 over is justifyable to pull you over and ticket you-
they are expecting these cops to write a ticket evey 10 minutes. 30 new
unmarked Crown Victorias are on the road along with the regular marked
sedans and the troopers are working overtime.

Hmmm...

It's either highly coincidental that almost the identical information was for California and Michigan, or this is just one of those hoax rumors floating around.

Updated 4 days ago to include the urban legend of Michigan's 30 day speeding ticket frenzy. :)

archemedes 01-30-2006 10:10 PM

I know it won't happen in AL the cops would have to learn what the speed limit is

MeenZ28 01-30-2006 10:28 PM

I think its a hoax... i didnt see one damn cop on either 210 or the 605 at all today. If it's suposed to be one ticket every 10 minutes they're slacking something major! And it's not for lack of opertunity either, had a 350Z fly by me this morning doing at least 100.
