How much cheaper to insure

a V6 98-02 Firebird than my two cars? I think both of mine may be up for sale soon :crying: Is a V8 really that much more? I don't know but I fear I have no choice any more.

A-RoN'sZ 06-23-2007 03:05 AM

Don't know about a Firebird, but my 98 Z28 isn't that much more than the 96 3.8 V6 I used to have (I had the V6 when I was 16 and the Z now that I'm 18) Don't know if that helps any, but good luck

98CamaroZ28 06-23-2007 03:13 AM

yea it sucks having the Z and being 18, but I pay insurance through my pops so it isnt to bad...

ITSA6 06-23-2007 03:14 AM

when i was sixteen i had a V6 and to jump to a V8 was 8 bucks so i dunno how yours would work

A-RoN'sZ 06-23-2007 03:15 AM

Me too (the 96 was insured through my dad too) I'm insured on my 1972 Pontiac Ventura cause it's considered a classic and insurance is cheap lol. And I think we def just jacked this thread

ITSA6 06-23-2007 03:18 AM

not really it's kinda helping showing it isn't to big of a difference and should be cheaper for one car over two

A-RoN'sZ 06-23-2007 03:26 AM

Good point...lol I'm kinda tired I worked 10 hours today so the delirious phase is settin in

98CamaroZ28 06-23-2007 03:40 AM

just owning a camaro period = higher insurance, 2 door sport car ect....

A-RoN'sZ 06-23-2007 03:53 AM

True, but if she already has one then she prob knows about the high cost of insuring a sports car. My overall opinion is that there won't really be that much of a difference between the v6 and v8. I could be wrong tho...I guess we'll find out if she checks with the insurance company

I get mine throug my dad. Through him its $36/month full coverage thankgod.

Hmm I was thinkin a 3rd gen would be cheaper but that is a bigger difference than I thought! I would love to get an LS1 Trans Am tho.

For liability on both of my cars, I pay 73 bucks a month. My driving record is pretty clean and I'm a 22 year old male. When I first bought my Z-28 when I was 19, my insurance was 116 a month for both cars. When I only had the V6 Camaro, my insurance was 121 a month.

Why are you selling?

Shes pregnant.

But the difference in money isnt going to be 'that' much between a v6 and v8. I have a clean driving record as per the last few years, and mine is still 50ish per month, just for the maro, with nothing but liability.

EDIT: Oh, and im 23, so age isnt much of a factor.

camaro_chic17 06-23-2007 06:41 PM

lol no I'm not pregnant and I don't plan to be any time soon. I don't want kids for a long time. I have a clean record right now, but I have some trouble with the law that I don't want to discuss that has put me in a bad position :banghead:
