insurance cost after minor accident?

About a year ago, when I was 17, I was stupid and got into a minor fender bender in my parent's 2000 mazda protege with a GMC 12 passenger Safari. It was in the winter, and my parents are the the kind that refuse to buy a seperate set of winter tires so they go for the cheap all-season kind. Nonetheless, the accident was totally my fault and their insurance spiked a bit because of it. Since then, I have been accident free and have gotten my G class license. I was planning on buying my first car this summer as I'll probably have a good $6000 saved up by then (got about $3,000 now). By that time, approximately 18 months will have passed and I will still be accident free since I have no access to a car right now (cars are in Ottawa). I was just wondering how likely is it for my insurance to be at a reasonable rate 18 months after a minor fender bender. Considering that I am male, will be 19, and have already had an accident, i expect no less than $4,000-$5,000 per year if not more. I'm not the speeding/racing type as I like the whole "luxury tuning" world better. My first car is most likely going to be a 4 door sedan, probably from 95-96 and definitely not a civic/accord/integra. I only want to be paying $300-$400 a month if that's at all possible. Just wondering if anyone's been in a similar situation, or can give some experienced insight on the matter. Thanks.

first of all y would u let the insurance know that ur parents car was in a accident, that just caused a bunch a problems. First their insurance is gonna be higher, and if u guys wanna sell that car in the future eventualy the buyers r going to get a car fax report and will want less for the car or wont want it at all.

The other guy was a dick about it. Yeah it was my fault for hitting him, but he wanted an outrageous amount of money to keep it off the books. In the end, dealing with the insurance company saved me about $1000 up front. For someone who can't afford to put down $2,000 for someone's auto repairs, plus my parents' car's repairs, the hit in the long run was the only option I had. And besides, I can't really change the past anyway. Any other suggestions or insights?

who's name is on the insurance for the mazda ?

Both of my parents' names are on it. I'm registered as the third driver, but I looked at the slip that I carry in my wallet and it just has both my parents' names. I don't suppose that clears me up for the future does it? I highly doubt it.

i did the same thibng as u wen i was 17... plus i got a hole bunch of other tickets... i am paying 350 a month for my 93 si and my 90 accord... i still think that is pretty cheap for tickets and an accident.
