LS1/LT1 block?

alright. ive got a quesiton. ive got no idea waht i really want fo xmas, besides those few things, well i was thinkin about getting an engine and building one up. i can get the magnetic particle testing done for free . so really i'd jus need to get it hot tanked and work it up from there.. my question is , Ls1 or Lt1, and why? and how much would gettin a block used cost?

LS1 is IMO a better engine. But, the new LSX block is looking promising.. its up to you really. And about getting one used, junkyards typically know that they are worth a good amount, and they sell them like they are, sometimes more than they are worth.

You're guess is as good as mine nowdays. I havnt had to buy one. I'd look around some websites (ls1tech) or call a local junkyard and see what they say and do some price comparing vs just buying a crate motor.

LT1 = cheaper to mod, reacts MUCH better than an LS1 to headers.
LS1 = takes better to mods and is a superior motor overall.

well buy my half finished 355 shortblock. i have all the parts i just havent had time to throw it together and i dont know what to do about the heads.

or get your own old school 350. theyre easy to pick up for just a few hundred. thats perfect for a side project.
otherwise get an LS1. if it came to LT vs LS i wouldnt think twice.

what the hell does that mean? do you mean LT1s respond to headers better than LS1s do? or LT1s respond better to mods than an LS1 does to headers?

He means that the LS1 came with better headers, so replacing headers means very little. But, when it comes to the LT1, replacing the headers makes a world of difference because of the ****** design of the factory headers.

Are you retarded? Read it again.

LT1s respond better to headers than LS1s do... it wasnt that hard to figure out.

Go buy a Tiburon already. It's as good a sports car as you are literate.
