OK arch how would i have fixed it right? There really wasn't anything wrong in the first place.

archemedes 02-17-2006 12:26 PM

a/c does not give worse milage it's a myth. If nothing was wrong then it's at the right temp and doesn't need cooling (if it's too hot change the fan t stat)

paarman97maro 02-17-2006 12:29 PM

a/c does give bad gas mileage, it uses gas. Plus I saw it mentioned on an episode of Top Gear... Is that show wrong too?

archemedes 02-17-2006 12:33 PM

mythbusters proved it wrong. (the car with windows down ran out first) they had to test it twice since they screwed up the first one (didn't switch vehicles to take that out of the equation) basically if going under 50mph yes a/c will use more gas (about 1/2 mpg) but at speed it won't make a difference

blue89vert 02-17-2006 12:49 PM

so around town, which is all i drive anyway. ac= worse gas mileage? I thought mythbusters turned out the other way around. maybe im wrong....again

archemedes 02-17-2006 02:08 PM

on tv it did, but when they finished (after about 1000 emails and big time bashing on their message board) they finished it, it's supposed to be on a future show, but don't know when. In city traffic stop and go it makes a small difference, cruising steady at 50 or under it uses more (keep in mind you are always spinning the compressor just the clutch is disengaged)

haha does your not turn on?

Onedarkevl 02-17-2006 03:24 PM

Thats my problem too...i think..
My a/c works...but barely..

blue89vert 02-17-2006 03:56 PM

my highest speed for my a/c doesn't work, and i don't know why

archemedes 02-17-2006 04:43 PM

your resistor at the motor is bad, or the switch is bad (you can remove the belt for the a/c and it will still work since it's the inside switch that turns the fans on not the compressor)

blue89vert 02-17-2006 04:44 PM

now im confused

archemedes 02-17-2006 04:46 PM

what part?

blue89vert 02-17-2006 04:55 PM

you can remove the belt for the a/c and it will still work since it's the inside switch that turns the fans on not the compressor

blue89vert 02-17-2006 04:55 PM

what turns the compressor on then?
