mopar air intake

has anyone heard if the mopar air intake makes a diff on th srt4 and have u heard the sound of bov they make threw mopar does stage 1 help alot more or waste of money ?

SuprAdam 02-23-2006 06:18 PM

well an srt-4 is a waste of money so....Hahah,

Ok, joking aside, more breathing air is always a good thing. But since it is Mopar they probably want an arm and a leg for it, so for the gains and what I imagine its going to cost it is probably cheaper to buy another similar kit or to piece your own together...That is unless you dont care about getting ripped off.

P.s. what is the price of it anyways?

Theriault_honda 02-23-2006 09:23 PM

just get a no-name one their all the same no hp gain but your money! good luck

the mopar intake is an over priced injen knock off. And isn't even a 3". It's a piece of junk!!! Get the AGP 3" CAI, by far the best on the market, and less expensive.

The mopar BOV is also junk. It's simply a plate with a hole in it, that is put between the DV and the turbine housing to vent. Get a real one, like an HKS SSQv. Agp sells a upper hard pipe and bov combo, with the only threaded sensor fitting on the market. This prevents the sensor from blowing out.

I have ran both these products on my car... and guess what. I layed shillackings all day long on pieces of wood supras at THEIR track day at cayuga last summer :lmao:

You clearly werent racing the right one then...

I do agree that the majority of the owerns in that club are old guys that can't/won't push their cars hard. This is where the 500hp and 13's comments come from. I do however know of plenty of them that would hand you your ass on a silver platter if you really want to push your luck.

The only remotely fast one.... is you friend there with the silver mk4 supra that got FED by RamAirT/A out east during the summer. Other than that i've only ever seen high12 or 13 second supras around the GTA.

And the fag's from the "roll-on-club" laughing at my car in Tech in at cayuga were sure trying after the got their ass handed to them...

There is a street legal 8 second mk4 in the GTA.

And plenty more of them faster than 12's....

boosted kruzer 02-28-2006 03:13 AM

4cefed6 02-28-2006 11:16 AM

Well to tell you the truth, a 10second car should be able to beat an 11 second car. The supra runs 11's, so there is no shame in losing to a 10second car. I was there for the race. The silver supra lost by 2 cars....tops. RamAirT/A's car is by no means a slow car, so I'm not sure where your going with this.

Now if 135mph is only remotely fast, what does that make your 121mph trap?
I'd rather run an 11.3@131, than a 12.9@121......but even there, both cars should be quicker with those trap speeds....u both need to learn to drive :lmao:

boosted kruzer 03-04-2006 03:10 AM

Where i was going is that, as i said, basically the only really FAST supra i'd seen around the GTA was the silver mk4. Not that it was slow. I've seen it on the street and making shake down runs at cayuga. Either way a race on the street between a 10 second and 11 second car would be close, mostly because of traction issues.

My SRT was having clear traction issues cuz it's FWD pushing 400 ft/lb. Even on 26" slicks at 10psi cold it was hard to stick. You're definitely right that the car should be quicker at that trap. The mph is there for 11's... driving the SRT is pretty different to most other FWD cars due to the retarded HP to TQ ratio, it's over 1:1 usually. Plus with such a large 4 banger, spool time is so minimal that it shoots through the rpm band on each gear. Add to that the piss poor 6K redline and you've got one hell of a time sticking tire.

I know exactly what u mean about traction, my fwd Laser had 415hp & 441ft-lbs without an LSD :smilie_d0 . It took out all the fun of driving it on the street, thats why I had to get myself an AWD Talon.
