Mothers California Gold Pure Carnuba Wax

Worst wax I've ever used. Purchased it today for $9.99, immediately waxed half of my car when I got home. Horrible. It went on easy, hazed up like normal, but buffing it out took way too much effort and work. I had to use my entire body weight against the spot I was trying to buff out, and I know that it definitely left fine swirl marks because of all the hardcore rubbing against the paint I was doing to try and get the **** wax off. It left my car looking pretty shiny, but it felt about as smooth as the opposite side of my car that was waxed with Meguiar's Gold Class last week. Definitely not worth the money, or the hassle, and it's one of the few things that I actually will be returning to the store.

The lesson of this thread is to stay away from mothers.

archemedes 05-30-2005 06:22 PM

I bought some when my rims first arrived....was told that applying a coat before anything else (billet polish) to buff in some caranuba wax to keep brake dust, and dirt off.

Needless to say it just made my wheels, well more dull than I had wanted them too....not to mention the stuff came out of the bottle wayyy too thin, the bottle has sat on the shelf for the daily driver now.

I do like mother's claybar though

Claybar is good - but i've heard nothing but bad things about Mothers.

I have the mothers claybar and the crap that they give you leaves a nasty residue

MeenZ28 09-25-2006 12:31 AM

The power ball is cool, but we're talking the actual compounds here. Claybar gives off residue?

97z2801ss 09-25-2006 12:34 AM

it's the spay they sell with it (the "lube")

MeenZ28 09-25-2006 01:29 AM

Oh. I didnt know you needed to be spayed to use a clay bar. I guess that would leave a residue. LOL

But on a serious note... I always figured with any clay bar you would just just water. I mean the Zaino one my friend Sara used was only water... right?

archemedes 09-25-2006 01:32 AM

that works pretty well, but most companies have a polish they say to use for better gloss
