My baby is coming home today!

Well i posted before about how i got into a car accident and they said my car was totalled...well they told me theyd give me 4600 if i wanted to keep it...and i decided to take the 4600 and me and my dad and his friend are fixing it.. i called a junkyard and i found a whole front clip (including hood) for 1500 ..and since we are doing the work i wont have to pay labor or anything....and that will leave me 3100 dollars to get it painted, and for other stuff...i really want to get the SS hood, so if i get the front clip with the hood i will most likely sell the hood and buy an ss hood b4 i go and get it painted..sometime today a tow truck should be pulling up to my house with my car :) i cant wait to see her again! Geico didnt like payin 30 dollars a day to keep my car at Jackies auto body...so they had my car towed to palmetto...without asking me, and that is 90 miles away so now they are towing my car to my house...i cant wait!! im just hoping no one switched anything off of it, cuz it was sitting at an auction lot..so im hopin no1 switched out the t-tops or anything..ill def post pics of the 'rebuilding process' :):)

Congrats! I'm happy you're getting her back. You all are doing the work yourself? Was there any frame damage? If they wanted to total it there must have been. If so how much?

yea? if the frames messed up it wont handle the same ever

meissen 11-17-2004 04:51 PM

definitely post many rebuild pictures with you in them. :)

Seriously tho, CONGRATS! I'm happy to hear you'll be getting it back -- and hey if anything it'll be a learning experience.

only if the person pulling is a moron who can't read the spec sheet. Just because they wanted to total it doesn't mean the frames tweaked, the repair would be more than the value of the car (if used parts are $1500 figure another $1500 for paint and about $1500 for labor and you get real close to the amount paid, and those are low numbers)

Good luck with it all. Congrats too, hope everything works out for you.
