My car's too low for a jack!

I love how low my car sits......but now I can't get a jack under it! I figured if I bought one of those low-profile jacks I'd be ok and it would slide under far enough to get it up in the air......WRONG!!!!

Well, at least I have a really nice jack and jack stands for when I do get it under there.(last picture) They had 'em on sale at GI JOES for $119.00 marked down from $139.00, another place wanted $149.00 for the exact same set. When I got to the register though, they rang up at $99.00, I said Sweet! :D

Now the only way I can get the jack under there, is to use these staggered ramps I just built tonight. I still need to staple some roofing shingles to the surface for better traction, but at least now I'll be able to get the car up high enough to push the jack under it.:) As you can see from the pictures, they barely fit under the car......but they do fit. I need to get another couple pieces of board though and nail 'em to the end of the ramp so it sticks up about an inch as a stopper, just to be safe.

lol i used to have the same problem on my last car i would just use a stock siscor jack to start then put a stand under then switch to a good jack lol it sucked, but i am pretty sure ur car is lower but those ramps are a really good idea too bad i couldnt think of something like that

welcome to 4th gens.haha. i can barely get a jack under my stock WS6.

I ran into the same problem last Saturday while changing 2 of my wheels... my solution: Using a scissor jack.

SOMBirdV6 03-14-2006 10:33 AM

I never have that problem....I use the jack it comes with and lift it as high as I need it and put a jack under it and go to the other side and done.

I just put a piece of wood under each front wheel to get our jack under it.

Well, I tested them out today cause I had to swap out the clear corners.......worked awesome! I was thinking they might move as I drove up on them, but they stayed right in place. I was a little nervous though about going too far and driving off the end. I really need to nail a few extra pieces on the end for a stopper, but all in all they worked great, and it only cost me $13.00 and about 15 minutes worth of time.:)

Yea i can barley get a jack under mine, sometimes i just pick up on the car a lil by hand and kick the jack under works for me haha

97z2801ss 03-14-2006 07:40 PM

yea dude I tell chuck norris to hold the car up for me while i do whatever i have to do

69z-28 03-14-2006 07:55 PM

lmao Tony. my dad usually lifts up on the fender while i position the jack. then i get it up to the lowest setting for the drivers side jack, drop it down, then go in the middle on the k member.

blue89vert 03-14-2006 08:15 PM

never had that problem.haha

I'm on the same boat as you- lowering springs and lookin to put on a body kit but the extremely low car kinda scares me...

camaro94 03-15-2006 12:41 AM

I haven't been able to put a jack under my car without driving it onto pieces of wood for 2 years, and its just going to get worse with the body kit I have.

i have these wheel ramps from either ecklers or mid america. they have a 245 max tire...which works great for me. but they have a couple adapter deals or whatever that you lay out in front and they make the incline a lot longer and shallower so it works great. its how i pulled my trans..8 inches off the ground :( lol.

V6Cam 03-15-2006 02:49 AM

we have ramps for my car, but my car isnt lowered yet so i dont have the problem yet...
