My t-tops leak...

Is there anything i can buy to fix this? when it rains alot, the water leaks right through them and onto my seats...and when i wash the car i usually end up with a little water on the seats...anything i can do? any1 else have this prob?

yeah mine do it all the time...it's usually right where my seals meet in the middle. I've heard most t-tops leak so i haven't done much about it. I usually just leave towels on my seats.

I've heard from several people once they install subframe connectors that their t-tops stop leaking

Yup the leak is very common in T-Top camaros alot of cars with T-Tops do it my friend who has a del sol targa top has a leak as well I guess those removeable parts are common to leak? But install the sub frame should fix ur prob.

yes they can leak, but mine on my '75 didn't leak, they need to be adjusted, or new seals, apply some vaseline on the seals and the leak should stop

NoRiceInside 12-25-2004 11:25 PM

how do subframes stop it from leaking?

fbird42 12-25-2004 11:30 PM

my dad said he spent hours adjusting his t-tops on his 80 vette so that they never leaked, but how do u "adjust" them?

fbird42 12-25-2004 11:41 PM

good question...

Could be one of three things?:

A) Your frame is slightly bent

B) You need new weatherstripping

C) Try some of the lube that is made for treating weatherstripping

My t-tops never leak. My problem is the seal to the driver's door is bad, so when I wash the car it comes in right between the window and the driver side where it has the corner on the side of the glass. But I know it's just the rubber's bad because it's like flat and doesn't even meet up to the window.

SUbframe connecters connect the unibody and greatly reduces chassis flex. that way the car isnt twisting and stiffens up kinda like tighthing a leaky valve at home

TorqueDog 12-26-2004 04:56 AM

I'm replacing all my weatherstripping for the T-tops and doors. If the leaks continue, then I'm going to start meddling with the weatherstripping on my own.

wow I must be very lucky my 84 has never had that problem but I rarly take them off also so they dont get baked by the sun that much that might help?
