question on shipping a vehicle

bought a car in Kenora ont didn't realize it was so damn far from me , the seller advised me that i could ship it from winnipeg. I need to ship it, can anyone help me or refer me to a place that will send it to me here in ontario?

I really need to get this done, car is not running so flying/busing there and driving back is out. there is a uhaul place i can rent a tow dolly from. that means driving down in my jetta having a tow hitch installed and driving back. a good 23 hr drive each way from wut i see on the ol maps!

Takin a bus one way is $425 thru greyhound, thats way more than I paid for the vehicle! LOL!!! I want to do this inexpensively as possible, keeping in mind that I have realistic views of inexpensive. if that happens to be $5-600 to do it when normally it would cost over 1200, I am ok with that!

1200 seems to be the going rate from a company called

http://www.searail.ca/

I called the allied transportation offices in winnipeg but they won't return my calls.

any help would be great!

TYIA!!!!

Your best bet is to rent a van , drive it out there strip everything you need on site and haul the parts back. A jetta is not going to tow a car and a car dolly all the way from winnipeg. You need a truck. Uhaul rents them cheap. You will get a fixed rate for the mileage cost.

check cprail or viarail. i know those canada-japan car importing companies charge like $700 from vancouver to toronto, so im guessing winnipeg would be cheaper...

a 1980 VW Rabbit (Caddy)

there is a uhual place there, but it would cost me like $450 to greyhound myself out there, and they take forever. 30hr drive by their standards. I'n not sure that, that money isn't better spent on drivin out myself and towing back.

these shipping places all charge an extra 300 if the car isn't running :smilie_d0

I will check the rail places, thanks for the tip! :smilie_da

Rail would be easier than you and I driving there. But, if we need to, ROAD
TRIP.

I saw the tranny coolers at the uhaul place. isn't that only for automatics?

a rig company eh? i wouldn't know where to start. I'll check the local yellow pages thx

Don't worry, you don't need a tranny cooler on your 5 speed Jetta.

Sory dude didnt realize you car was stick. Anyways yeah my x's dad got a old 43 ford picked up in saskatoon. He called places and found out if any frieght companies were driving out there or near. He payed them to pick it up and had it brought back here on the way home.Works well. Since they have empty cargo anyway they dont mind makin a extra buck on the side.

Now that is definitely a good idea.
