same as pauls thread...

his is "might sell the 80 trans am"...well that would make mine "might sell the 95"

i've gotten tons of opinions from professionals and they all say my car is fine and that everythings working. i've tried everything i know of. its running great, but since a cam and ported heads wont rocket the V6 foward...i've lost all faith in the V6 f-body.

the manager of pep boys called me up and now ima start working there...that means i can get some money saved up and i can afford an LT1 or maybe and LS1. it wont be for a few months...maybe as late as christmas...but im wondering...what could i ask for my car?

now remember this is cali, cars are usually more expensive...but its got 115,000 miles on the car, about 150 on the engine (cept the shortblock, but the compression on all cylinders is from 145-155...perfect!). i just did the brakes, everything is working perfectly, cept two problems. the transmission slips while shifting from 2nd to 3rd when youre really ridin the gas pedal, but i hear this is common in 4L60Es and 700R4s. the other thing is the rear main seal might be developing a leak. theres a bit of gummy oil around the back of the oil pan. it doesnt drip though...so its still good. haha, if you buy it i can give you the rear seal, i have a new one :D

anyway its in excellent shape. i repainted it a year ago and the paint is still shiney as hell, i have ZR1 rims with tires that have maybe 3000 miles on them, then as you all know, the entire valvetrain, heads, and all gaskets have been replaced. i payed 5,000 for it almost two years ago with 99,000 miles and a big dent in the front and as i found out a bad head gasket.

so with over 4,000 worth of upgrades/restorations i figure 6,000 is a steal (again, this is cali). what do you guys think?

If you can afford a Z28 I say go for it. It's a huge jump going from a 3.4 to a 5.7.

NoRiceInside 04-17-2005 12:49 AM

yeah my car is in great shape so i figure i can get enough from it to get at least a stock LT1...which at this point i'd be extremely happy with spending all my money on insurance and having no mod money. im too antsy for a V6.

I'd buy your car in a heartbeat if I had the cash lying around....your Camaro reminds me of a perfect / immaculate version of my old '96. $6K is a bit much for a 3.4, but, then again, you did fix a bunch of stuff and it is in Cali.

Even blue booking it for Cali - that's high. I know I wouldn't buy it for that price. A z28 in 'excellent' condition with 50,000 miles for your year blue books at about $6,200.

NoRiceInside 04-17-2005 12:56 AM

crap. stupid depreciation. it only blue books for $4,290.

yep, depreciation sucks.

Bernotas05 04-17-2005 01:24 AM

good luck

69z-28 04-17-2005 09:42 AM

i got my car for 5k with 117k and a few mods, even tho they dont really add any selling price, but my car has high mileage and thats pretty much the only flaw, it is still very very tight and drives very well and everything is in excellent condition except the front right side of the bumper is spider cracked cause it was ditched but thats pretty much it. i dont think you will have a problem finding a sweet LT1.

6k for that, with a lot of mods. good luck with whatever you decide.

drivers seat a small tear in side bolster(normal)
when people are trying to sell things they really annoy me. my seats are original and i have 25k more miles than him and my seats are in perfect condition...no tears.

anyway theres this dealership in sylmar...Camaro King :D its where i got my first car (overpaid...6 grand for 120,000 miles of stock 3.4). but he has a great selection of birds and maros so i can check him out.

archemedes 04-17-2005 03:44 PM

yeah damage is never normal even if it's common it's still not normal

meissen 04-17-2005 04:20 PM

werd I got my car for 6k, but it was 8 years older with only 34k miles on it... which was kickass.

NoRiceInside 04-17-2005 06:22 PM

wow thats excellent miles! i want a Z with less than 80k if i can find one...

69z-28 04-17-2005 08:41 PM

good luck. you might be able to find one. but if you get an LT1 dont worry too much if it had high mileage. theres a guy who had an LT1 with like 150k on it basically all stock except some bolt ons and a 150 shot. he had it like that for five years, pulled the motor apart to check it and it was perfect so he put it back together.lol

SLPowerZ 04-17-2005 09:29 PM

i had a 95 v6 that i sold for 2900, which is really lowballing cause i coulda got like 4 or 4500 for her. i picked me z up bonestock for 6500
