Shakedown Testing in the TA

Welp, FINALLY got ALMOST everything worked out on the Trans Am yesturday. Only problem left is that it hits the rev limiter in every gear, so we lowered the shift point, and it still hits it, and the guy said he doesn't want to raise the limiter with stock valve springs, so, i'm gonna hafta work that out or manually shift it, but, alot of folks wents racing last night, and i finally got to play with it.

2003 Lightning stock -- 8 lengths
2000 Formula 3600 stall, cutout, et streets -- 3-4 lengths
2004 Z06 intake mods, BFG's -- 1.5-2 car lengths

All these races, I was hitting the rev limiter and having to let off for each shift, so hopefully when I get this worked out, i'll be stomping folks everywhere. I'm extremely impressed with the car, and a couple people that I let rid with me have compared my car to a M6 Cammed LS1 :)

Bah, I think i'm done with the car performance wise, besides a 160 stat i got sitting at the house, becuase, if I got with a cam, heads, fi, or something like that, it's gonna kill the tranny and rear end quick. Now if either one of those dies right now, i'll start saving, then i'll build the car like no other, you know, blower cam, and a nice little supercharger sitting up top, and i'll keep the car for a couple of more years. :)

the t stat won't do much but wear the engine out (it makes the engine run rich washing the cylinders) the fastest grand prix is using a 185 t stat and running low 10's (he found the colder one hurt power a little with his tune) a good pcm tune will do more

How did that formula run with the 3600 stall? thats the one im waiting for fex ex to bring me. Im wondering how it will perform on my car with that worked up race tranny i got on the way here..

I'll tell you right now. Best mod BY FAR for an A4. He ran 10.2 with a cutout, 3600 stall, and bald *** drag radials. in the 1000'.

HA I've learned NOT to expect my car to be back when it's supposed to heh. It'll take some getting used to driving it and all with the stall, cause it will be loose, and your gas milage will decrease a good bit, but it's just TOO much fun when you trample on the gas and blow corvettes outta the water :)

I'm doin the whole swap chit myself, its been a pain in the *** but i love working on cars so its not bad.. so i dont have to worry about it not getting done because im determind to have it all together by the 17th, hell it only took me 5-6 hours to to get the tranny and eveything that bolts it up out of there so i shouldnt have a problem with it... check the pics forums of my progress i made rippin it apart

Just upgrade your valve springs, they're inexpensive, and will allow you to raise your shift points a touch.

lil update adam i just won a MTI power induction lid of ebay so thats gunna help a lil also too, i cant ****** wait to drive my car again.. eventhough most people on here are being hardasses about it because i do all my own work and they criticize me about how i should have my car jacked up.. ive been working on cars my whole life i think i did many tranny swaps before this ones is just a lil bit of a pain cuz of the tight space

69z-28 09-12-2005 09:03 PM

im not critisizing i just thought it was really funny and unbeleivable. but **** if it works then thats all that matters.

It's all good man, im careful when im under there and i have 2 stands leveld on wood on each side of the rear incase anything would happen that would hold it up. So i feel confortable under it while working, over the winter im just gunna buy lots of performance parts for it, ungraded brakes, bigger cam, and my dad said he will buy me headers, y pipe, high flow cats and a cutout for christmas.. car is going to be a sleeper non the less with the little mods i have planned, then im moving up to the suspensions parts to handle everything...so by middle of spring this car is going to be a sleeper non the less with the mods... car sits all winter so i have all the time in the world over the winter to through it all on..
