slipping clutch...:confirmed:D

haha. well i knew it was slipping and not up to what it should be, i just confirmed this with a little ride in the rain about an hour ago. so i was in 2nd gear, at about 2,500 RPM and stomped it on a fairly wet side street. NOTHING.haha. just kinda accelerated a little bit. keep in mind, this car could smoke the tires into 4th gear when trying, when it was all stock. haha. o man i cant wait to get to the track with a new clutch and my nittos. everybody pray for my 10 bolt:D

Mike Jones 07-08-2006 11:36 PM

Yeah I'd say it's slipping when you can spin the tires in the rain with 315 nittos on.

woody80z28 07-08-2006 11:38 PM

I feel your pain. Dumping the clutch going straight used to mean being sideways all the way through first.

69z-28 07-08-2006 11:42 PM

haha you are both dead on correct. 315 Nittos in the rain should spin into 6th gear.haha.

and when this clutch was decent with just the dynomax, i remember multiple times of just hammering it from a roll and smoking the old 275s all the way up through 4th.lol. this clutch is gonna be like a fricken 100 shot on this pig.lol

lol, dont push that 10 bolt too much. I learned they break pretty easy when i first got my car. hehe

The stock 10 bolt should lost up to 400rwhp...if u break it before then that means u beat the **** out of ur car. Matts car is no where close to breaking that 10-bolt.

blue89vert 07-10-2006 03:28 PM

400 hp? what happened to mine is a long story but a cable got locked up in one wheel and the other one kept spinning. thats not good for a posi so yeah it broke and so did the driveshaft.i was only goin like ten

Dude, mine slips a little bit too and its pissin me off cuz its a performance clutch (not sure when installed). Should I try adjusting the clutch a little so I know its all the way disengaged when I let off ... or should I just buy another performance clutch? :p Yeah it sucks, it gets all revved up like its flying, but its barely moving. :banghead:

you cant adjust LT1 clutches, they are self adjusting i beleive, and Jason, not to sound cocky at all but i can very easily break my 10 bolt. if you put slicks on any F-body over 250 horse or so it can break that 7.5.lol. i wish it wasnt so but thats the way it is. i dont plan on lauching it ever tho, at least not dumping the clutch, i will have to slip it off the line at the track, but w/e its all good.lol

Actually- I have seen 10 bolts hold up to 400hp all day at the track- with slicks. If you are retarded about how you drive then you will break it. Just make sure that when you go to the track and are lined up, don't let the car roll back at all. That will allow all your parts to start turning before you actually turn the tires, putting all the strain on your spider gears and axle shafts- thats where most people break them. The sudden shock on the rear is what toasts it. The other little cheat to help a little is get a stronger cover that preloads your diff caps. If they can't flex then you are a little better off at letting that weak 10 bolt live a little longer.

Either you are makin way more power than you say or those must have been some really crap tires since my car won't spin all the way thru 4th with 275's on it.

69z-28 07-10-2006 08:43 PM

well it was about 50 degrees out so obvious not ideal for traction and way easier to spin them, and i was trying to spin them. not like i stomped it and couldnt get it to hook. i smashed it on a roll in that nice little LT1 power range(hehe) and as soon as the y started spinnin i got it to about 5500 then grabbed 2nd and did it again and so on. so i tried to spin them and it worked.lol. in no way was the car just overpowering the tires while i was trying to hook up.haha.

anyways, yea i always roll up to the line and if i dump it at all i make sure the car hasnt rolled back like you said Force cause then its all loose and like you said the shock make it explode.lol. im not wasting money on a girdle even tho i know it will help because i dont ever plan on lauching the car really. if i do a 2.0 60' i will be fairly happy and wont really try for anything better.
