i owe you a huge appology...

i installed my opti wrong :banghead:

there are three possible spots for the cam pin to go into. two of them are narrower as to avoid possible improper installation...somehow, i got the pin into one of them without ******* anything up...i dont get it. but i did it.

so sorry for givin you so much **** grant, i had no idea it was possible. i know that on 92-94 its impossible...but i guess on 95-97 it is.

Sall good. Takes a big man to amit when he's wrong. You have a lot of my respect right now. Good luck with yours bro.

NoRiceInside 08-13-2006 05:29 PM

******. now it wont start...all i wanted to do today was sit on my ***...now i gotta work :(

V6Cam 08-13-2006 05:31 PM

damn that sucks...2 Fbodies that refuse to start after touching the optispark...

NoRiceInside 08-13-2006 05:33 PM

well right now my balancer pulley, water pump, AIR pump and MAF and IAT arent installed...im trying to test it before i put it all back together...i have my coil and ignition module bolted to the head with the grounds installed...so it should start...and no one is around to check spark for me...its cranking like normal, battery sounding a little weak, 12 volts on the gauge tho...still normal...just wont turn over...hmm...

NoRiceInside 08-13-2006 06:51 PM

**** me. k i installed it wrong again. actually to be politically correct, both times it simply wasnt installed all the way so the pin slipped...but thats still wrong.

anyway now it runs but my valves are horribly adjusted. last time i trust my friends to help. all i need is water pump gaskets to get that back on and a serp belt so i dont kill my battery...again...

blue89vert 08-13-2006 09:18 PM

good job admitting that lol.

69z-28 08-13-2006 09:35 PM

that sucks. why did you need to mess with it again?

mxracerbrian 08-13-2006 11:36 PM

cracked radiator tank...i figured while im in there, i'll do the timing cover gasket...then while i was in there my timing chain was worn, then i decided to adjust my valves...now it wont start. :banghead: oh well my boss gave me the day off tomorrow to tinker with it :D

i found what you were talking about matt, put #1 at TDC then you adjust one set of valves...then rotate crank 360* then adjust another set. worked good...i think...i know for sure the timing chain is installed correctly...and now i know the opti is too, it actually popped in all the way, so im confident all is physically set, so im assuming i killed my opti or coil or something...my fuel pump runs, and it rotates nice, sounds normal...just wont kick on.

Wow, you deserve a lot of credit. It takes a real man to say he made a mistake and say that. You just earned more respect from me. :D

will i get points if i admit that i just found the exhaust manifold bolt that i dropped into my starter hole when i did my headers, when i pulled the trans and did the clutch the other day?lmao.

NoRiceInside 08-14-2006 02:54 AM

all this respect and no rep points? and matt, all you get is us un-hating you. we still dont like you.

oh and its running like a charm now. i had the PCM (battery) unplugged for a couple hours, went out and it started right up. i slapped it all back together and i only had a small coolant leak from one of the hoses. its all good now :D

V6Cam 08-14-2006 03:41 AM

well thats good that you found out the problem...

NoRiceInside 08-15-2006 01:09 AM

now my alternator isnt charging...and theres a horrible coolant leak still...from the pump i think...and still some oil. god i was so overwhelmed by the no start situation i didnt pay much attention to the leaks i was trying to fix. ******. back into it this week...
