the T/A lives......

fired up in about 2 cranks on sunday afternoon. the cam swap was about 30 hours total, friday, saturday and then finishing up on sunday. have prolly driven it about 50 miles now and its just badass. everything went well so far (knock on wood) and now it feels like the first time i hit the juice. i have only laid into it about 3/4 throttle from a roll up to about 5k or so, so after a few more miles and oil change, ill see how she does in the peaks of the powerband. has a nice lopey idle, drives real well on the stock tune and no SES light at all.hehe. i got some pics ill upload tomorrow and ill have to get some sound clips/vids.

heres a list of what i installed...

Comp custom ground cam= 224/224, .532/.532 on 112 LSA
GMPP 1.6 ratio 3/8 self aligning roller rockers
Crane 10308 dual valvesprings and retainers
Crane hardened pushrods
Cloyes factory timing chain

all in all, it was a little under 6 hundo to do the job and my blood sweat and tears. deffinitely worth it. never thought id be able to say i have a T/A with a cam and nitrous.hehe

Was that a custom grind to take advantage of your nitrous? I'm not a cam expert by any means, but inital thoughts are its more of a n/a cam...

nope joe its a custom cam i bought used off CZ28. the guy had it custom ground for his motor then stepped up to a HUGE cam. the guy was VERY good to deal with and the cam pics he sent me it looked brand new and i got it and it was near perfect. he also sent me the cam card and informed me on everything he went through with it so i felt real comfortable buying it.

im not a cam expert either, lol, but you are correct the cam isnt ideal for nitrous however i think i'll do alright with a 125 shot. my system is extremely safe (colder plugs, retarding timing, window switch, WOT switch, fuel pressure safety switch) so as long as the cam is getting the nitrous out as fast as it should be, i dont think ill have a problem with it.

heres some pics of the swap....
