Things to look for?

Well in this 454, what are some things to look for when purchasing parts for them, being its an older engine, all i want to do to it is put a different cam into it, so it willl have a rough idle and put a full exhaust system into it, and a new carb. Well what are some points to look for and think of before doing any of this to the engine, because my first point is that this is the biggest motored car i have had, not driven but had.

Here are some photos of the car, these were taking from my g/f's phone, then sent to email. It sucks that i cant touch it for the next 15 months but i will have a sweet ride when i get home.

BTW: I do have all the remaining parts to throw on the car, such as the fenders, hood, molding. Im having my father go to carlisle next spring to find alot of parts for the car, for one, Im looking for a 2 or 3 inch cowl hood. I dont like the look of 4 inch on the car, but its a nice project to work with.

if you've ever done a 350 many of the rules apply, procedures change a bit, and of course the numbers change. For the cam check with Lunati and Comp and see what they suggest, both have a free tech line to help choose the best cam for you. It's a pretty bullet proof engine to start with so just look at the same stuff as any other engine. I would get a bolt kit just for cheap insurance
