I do have to speak up here.

We are all F-Body enthusiasts here, yes? It is safe to say that many of us are even 'car' enthusiasts (I know I am), right? So how exactly can you smack down a car that probably blows 90% of the cars on this site out of the water on the basis that it's a Civic?

I mean, I completely understand if it looked like a god-**** Hot-Wheels car, but it doesn't. It's a fairly clean looking vehicle that just happens to go like stink. And of course you could hit high-11s with that sort of setup. When they refer to stock, they're talking about the engine. The suspension has ultimately been tuned, and he's probably using slicks for the track. Did I mention that the car weighs about as much as a toaster to begin with?

For someone to get a high 11 run out of a car that normally takes longer than 11 seconds just to get to 60 MPH, that's pretty impressive. Especially when you consider that front-wheel-drive is an absolute ***** to launch when you've got a powerplant putting down any decent number of ponies.

I had to say it, some of the ignorance on this site really appalls me.

Well if the perfomance stats are true than i compleatly agree with you TorqueDog. I would also have to agree with the statement...

Which i have a lot of respect for the owner because of which.

But there is another side of this too. It is in fact a Civic. A hatchback none the less. A car that was made to be an economical, to and from work, everyday driver sort of car. To put that much time and work into it to make it that fast and powerful is more or less an exercize in excess. It's like Putting a 24 karot gold ring with diamonds, into a pig's nose. Sure the ring is impressive but it's still a fillthy pig. A ring that would be much better suited on a supermodel's finger.
Speaking as a Mr. Appearance side of it, i'd be less likely to bash on it if it was a formitable (better looking) car to begin with such as a Supra or an NSX. Civics are just a waste of space. The faster it's out of my site - more power to them.

camaro94 01-21-2005 12:05 AM

that would be where I stand on it.

Mikerock 01-21-2005 01:24 AM

im going to say i doubt it, a stock civic with a turbo does the quarter in 11???

He had to at least up grade his drive train, lower compression for the turbo, do all kinds of things for the turbo to function properly.

Front wheel drive with street tires.

Now im not saying it is impossible, but it would take a lot of work, so i doubt its anywhere near stock.

All i have to say is i would run it in my car.

Drake 01-21-2005 02:08 AM

I agree 100% with what Grant said.

You can make the car as fast as you want, but at the end of the day - its still a Civic.

There is a certain bond between looking good and going fast......that car only has 1/2 the equation (assuming it is, in fact, that fast).
