ttop story

So I put my Camaro away for winter today. First, I drove it around a bunch this morning. It was overcast when I left and the streets were wet but I knew I'd be washing it later. It was driving verry nicely and while on the freeway going about 85 mph.. I suddenly heard some air wooshing in and my ttop was lifting up  I reached up to grab it but as soon as I put my hand on it the wind got it. I had slowed to about 80 when it flew off. I'm simply astonished that it flew up and landed in the grass median! That it happened where there was grass was incredible. I got off at the next exit and went back to get it. It was miraculously okay! Did not break after flying off at that speed. This is the first thing I think of as good luck concerning that car in so long lol. I almost always cruise with the ttops off, but I was afraid it was going to rain. I had the ttops in securely, but I did not have them locked and I never have locked them in the past. Aside from that, my Eclipse is finally driveable. I had to get a new transmission, then the transfer case blew and I had to get that, then the throttle position sensor was loose and I finally got that figured out. I'm finally set for winter! It's most likely going to snow tomorrow :(

I had one blow off on the highway, they don't survive hitting the concrete going 80 mph...It shattered into about a billion pieces..glad you had better luck!

Haha I do beat on them some, but not that bad. My Camaro has not been bad really this year. Mostly painting it took a lot of time. When I got it back from the first people that were supposed to paint it.. the SES light appeared within the week I got it back.. they had had it for about four months.. they hadn't put over a thousand miles on it but I didn't write the exact mileage so I'm not sure how many they put on. I babied the hell out of it cuz I knew the code was for it slipping, but it drove okay. I was told there was metal in the transmission pan so I had it rebuilt. I wish I had never had the rear end touched. At one point last year I heard a grinding sound and it disappeared on its own by the third time I drove the car.. but I thought maybe it was the rear end and someone I knew opened it up to look at it and it had a very slight whine after that.. could not even hear it driving with the ttops off and windows down. So I originally just wanted the guy to set it up better if something was slightly off.. I didn't plan on rebuilding it again (I had all the bearings replaced the year before). The night I got it back from him messing with it it broke and sounded horrible.. worse than I had ever heard. So basically he ****** it up and it's still ****** up cuz it sounds about just as bad as that night still.

The Eclipse.. is a DSM.. my transmission had 115k and apparently didn't like how fast I took it the night before since it broke the next day.. then the transfer case broke.. then the throttle position sensor came loose... and now the BOV blew out of the upper intercooler pipe.. the stock pipe is made of rubber and there are cracks at the opening where the BOV goes in.. so now it's running lean as hell and it's probably due to an air leak. In addition the flexplate had come loose over the summer and took a few times of trying to get it to hold right before it was fine. It frustrates me that it keeps breaking but it's a DSM and it's got 116k. I always heard a modified DSM breaks a lot and I wanted to keep it stock so that it would break less, but it's getting farther from stock lol. I want to get nicer intercooler piping and a better BOV since the piping needs replaced and the UIC piping I want (that is cheap) has a flange only for a Greddy blow off valve. The stock piece doesn't have a flange, only a clamp. Funny thing is I was testing it the night the BOV popped out.. the rpms go up on their own right before it upshifts and I think that is odd. It also was in neutral once when I put it in drive and I had to change it to neutral then drive again for it to get in drive.. then another time (same day of the BOV) I put it in drive after I got on the street leaving my driveway and started to move forward and it slipped into neutral and started rolling back.. then it went into drive again after I stopped it. I never touched the shifter. I still don't know why it is acting like that, but I'm reluctant to send it back and not have a car to drive.
