V8's and Nitto 555R Drags

This is the perfect tire for your LT1, LS1 V8.

Got an opportunity to test them at the track, I got a good 2.0 60 ft.

Two thumbs up for the Nittos if you desire traction :)

They're wonderful, that is all. Definately another set coming for me soon. Only the treadlife blows.

i cant do those. specially now. this is my daily driver. it rains a lot here during the winter so i couldnt have drags...plus i cant drag. my cars too slow...

They're not too much more than say a set of Kumho Supra 712's are they?

robluvs2xlr8 11-26-2004 10:08 PM

for a 245/50/16 tire it's $150.

2.0 60'??? What else is done to your car? I pulled a 1.9 60' on toyo 285/35ZR18's.. and my average was 2.0 on those...

My performance modifications are exactly as follows:

-SLP Air lid
-MAF ported and descreened
-Free Ram Air
-Cutout exhaust
-Removed windshield washer reservoir, foglights, rear seats, interior hatch trim, spare tire and jack
-Of course the Nitto's
-Computer tuning LS1 unlimited by Combination Motorsports
-NGK TR-55 spark plugs (if this is a performance mod?)
-100 octane that night.

im making 314rwhp, and 324rwtq. i warmed up the nittos in the waterbox, set the PSI to 30, then brake torqued it to around 2100rpm before launching.

im going to see how low i can get my times by simply reducing the weight, yet keeping some of the interior.

First... go around the waterbox... clean your tires off in front of the water box, and go around... second get some pressure out of those tires... I ran my 18's at 19-20 psi... you should be able to drop yours to at least 18, maybe lower... but take it to 20 first, see how they do and drop them in 2 lb increments... you should be able to pull a 1.8 or 1.9 60's at least!! interior is overrated! :D lose the passenger seat, if you want to keep your carpet i understand, but know that it weighs about 50 lbs or so with the insulation!

Good luck man, keep us updated!

Don't I have to warm-up the nitto's, since they are drag radials??

archemedes 11-26-2004 11:13 PM

radials should never be warmed up it will actually make you lose traction

Before your run, just turn them over a few times to clean em off, that should be enough...they don't take long to heat up...
