It cant be too much close to the actually selling price... I think that around 4500-5 should be an alright deal.

FamousZ 11-12-2006 11:58 AM

If your gonna spend that much why not get a turbo? Or I also see those Pro-Charger kits floatin around..

i tihnk ive seen it befor where people have asked wether a turbo or superchager is the best way to go. not sure wht the majoirty thought though.

depends on how many miles, a used mechanical part should be about half a new one. The debate between turbo and super is ongoing even in the pro racing world (I love watching the IHRA races between the 2)

I've seen numerous Vortech kits run for about $2000 over on LS1Tech. I would say hold off.

FamousZ 11-12-2006 02:04 PM

From what I have been told you will find more gains from a turbo..

98CamaroZ28 11-12-2006 04:44 PM

well a 9psi vortech S/C kit can hit you up about 150hp...which is from mabe a stock 310-320hp to a 460hp-470hp, estimate...but dont take my word on it, this is what I've read up on them. I would truly think it would be more around 420-430 hp.

Ironicly, i just read the e-bay site on the vortech S/C and i was almost dead on with the ho numbers and psi.

I have the turbo, wastegate, and intercooler from my turbo setup sitting in the basement if you want it. PM if you're interested.

I even have a boost gauge if you need one of those, too.

So you took the kit off your 97 before you sold it?

depends, the claim is less parasitic drag, but you do get some due to increased backpressure (even Gail Banks says that and he is one of the top turbo engine builders)

For the amount of money I sold that car for, let's just say the guy is lucky he got my chrome ZR1s with it. I should have put my stock 16" chromes on it, but unfortunately those are back in Winnipeg and I didn't have time to go get them.

So yes, I still got it, albeit back at home. Just the turbo, intercooler, and wastegate. The piping is long gone.

Oh, and backpressure = torque. Torque = fun ****.
