HELP! Blinking Engine Light!
 

I have an 03 Honda Accord w/around 105,000 miles on it. I just purchased it a couple months ago. It has a 3k/3mos warranty on it, but the damn dealership won't call me back. I've had it for 2 months with no problems other than one day it got stuck in park. I put the key in the release slot on the gear shift (it's an auto), released it and haven't had any probs since. I called Honda after that happened and they confirmed that the transmission had been repaired/replaced in accordance with a recall. Other than that, all's been god...until today. I started my car and it started to idle very rough. It feels like you're bouncing in your seat. It was cold and idled like that one other time, but once it got warm it was fine. I drove down the road and parked, had to run an errand. When I came back and started it, it reached its normal temp in about 10 seconds, but it was still idling really rough. No white smoke or funny smells or overheating issues, so I don't think it's head gasket issues. Even though it idles extremely rough, the tachometer doesn't bounce. It stays right where its always ran, at the 1/2 marker right below one (500 RPMs). It acts like it's going to die, but doesn't. When you accelerate, it feels like it feels when you dump the clutch in a stick, only it's an automatic. As you accelerate (it will accelerate), it misses. When you get to your desired speed, it doesn't miss anymore. I am going to have a mechanic look at it, most likely the dealership mechanic. (It is a small, independent dealership) I am concerned that the mechanic will pull some mickey-mouse BS when looking at it and telling me what's wrong. We replaced the air filter today (it was filthy), but nothing happened. It is about 2 seconds away from the gas light coming on, so it could be I sucked some gunk from the bottom of the gas tank into the engine. I know you can't diagnose over the internet, obviously, but what I would like to know are the major things I should be on the lookout for. I know, obviously, it could be the distributor or fuel filter, but it's unlikely it's JUST one of those because of how it's idling. Can you please shed some light on what I should be looking for or what is "most likely" wrong so I can go into this with some base of knowledge, please? I've never owned a Honda and I know each make has it's own problems, pitfalls and issues. I really appreciate any help you can offer.

did dealer replace timing belt.. its due/. also fuel pressure should be about 60 psi.. have dealer check codes... autozone can check codes also for no charge.. it,ll give you a heads up on dealer.. at 105 k plugs. also might be a coil. some have a plugin problem might remove and replace all plug ins to check for connections.

They ran the codes and said it was a cylinder coil. It seems to be running better now, but it has idled rough a couple of times. I've never had to deal with a bad cylinder coil before, so I am not sure what the symptoms of one going bad and then being replaced should be. I don't know if I should be looking for other/shadow symptoms of something else possibly being wrong. Perhaps, THAT was the only thing wrong. I didn't know a bad cylinder coil would cause it to idle so rough.

the coil is what fires the plug you can sometimes find them by moving them to another cylender. and see if they still show same code or if it has moved to new cyl.trash in tank is sometimes a problem. if you disc conn. fule line it might release some of it... good luck its a good car the run and handle great... :drive:
