New Guy checking in!
 

Hey everybody! New guy here jsut sayin' hey. I just purchased a 1977 Camaro and drove it up from NJ to Binghamton, NY. It was an eBay purchase that didn't sell. I emailed the guy and offered $850 for it. He needed the money so a deal was struck. Drove down to pick it up, started comming back and noticed that the blinkers didn't work. No radio, no air... so what, that's all part of the "well, you should have seen it when I got it story!" I'll be checking for blown fuses after I mow the lawn. :D This isn't my first choice for classic style Camaro's but it will be a good start. The engine runs smotther than my wife's new Grand Am, it's got tons more room to work under the hood than my Fiero, and it's painted baby blue this balck stripes.

One question I have for anyone is about the flexibility I have in putting front end parts on it. I don't particularlly care for the '77 front end and am more interested in putting on the earliest front end I can '70 sould be nice. I know the purists out there are clutching their chests right now- sorry. I want what I want. I'm also looking to replace the fenders and rear qurater panels due to rust. As long as I'm going to do that, I'd like to put something that flares a little bit more, jsut to give it more style and to look different. And the last thing on the exterior will be a cool hood scoop to get more air where it belongs: feeding that engine.

That's enough for now, feel free to leave any comments about sources, links to body mods, photos of decent custom paint jobs (looking to go dark metalic blue with metalic silver accents/striping who knows, but those will be the combos) up comming auto shows where you might be, and any other helpful hints!

Welcome to the site, don't worry about switching the front end. It's YOUR car so do what YOU want to it.

my cousins friend did a 77 with a 70 front clip so i kno it can be done!

it's a fairly popular conversion.You need all the front parts including rad support (I believe)for quarters here's an auction for one (the other is available) they normally run $99 each plus shipping

'70-'73 front end is almost identical.Don't do a scoop do a full hood, and stay away from unlimited products they only sell garbage that won't fit or look good.check http://www.fbodywarehouse.com/ for parts (they are not accepting orders, but should before too long)

So, in addition to the nose, I'll need to get the panels- well, that's good to know since I planned on replacing them anyway! :D

Wait! I jsut checked the auction and it's for '74-'77 Camaro quarter panel drivers- do I need 70-73 instead or these?

if you want the rear to be early style, then you also need tail panel, and sub structre it will cost as much as 2 early cars to do well

So, I've got something to think about- do it well and spend some money, or make what I've got look nicer.... I hate these kinds of decisions. :mad:

I would just do teh front as the early style, and leave the rear as is

something else I thought of, your back glass is different from teh early cars (they weren't curved that started in '75)

That's what I was starting to think. Just do the front. There is some rust around all the wheel wells, so I figured I'd replace the two front fenders and rear quarters. I suppose I sould bondo the areas but I'd rather start with solid metal and stay with it. The wierd thing is I don't really have that problem with my Fiero so I haven't had to worry about it for a while! :D

yea id leave the back the way it is...

bondo will only last a few months do it right with patch panels, paddock parts,classic industries, and npd all sell second gen parts and have the same things.
