$3000.00 for a 1991 Honda Accord....too much?

The car is 4 door, power everything, plus sunroof. Great condition (it's been taken care of, an elderly woman is selling it) it's never been smoked in. No dents, sratches, paint job is good. Oh and most importantly it has 116,962 miles on it. And she has service records for every 3,000 miles. Do you think $3000 is too much to give? She won't budge on the price...Thanks!!!

If it only had 75 or 80,000 miles then I would say no, it is fair..116,000 is too many miles for 3000.00. A car dealer would only give her 500.00 on trade if that. I would say 2250.00 is a good price.

WAY WAY TOO MUCH.... I had a 93 dodge intrepid that when I traded it to the dealer I got $100.00 for it. When I looked at the blue book value, it was close like $2-300.... Mine had just over 100,00 miles. Seriously, put that three thousand dollars as down payment and get something at the most 5 years old. You don't want to screw yourself over because you bought a car that wasn't worth it.

Then you need to look for another car. Being an older parts are going to naturally wair even if it has been gently driven. Did you try and counter offer?

hotboypsycho 03-25-2008 10:27 AM

i'd say at the most $2500.00 but more real at $1500.00. i could see it having 50,000 miles or under for that price

drbob2k7 03-25-2008 10:35 AM

Yes due to the mileage it's too much

offer $1500 and tell her to come down and you can go up then try to meet at around $2000-2300

good luck!

check Kelly blue book for a good value estimate.

Taylor-David 03-25-2008 10:59 AM

Well it sounds like the car was taken well care of. If she has proof of Oil changes and Check Ups etc. then yea its a good deal. But im sure you can also get a 95-97 accord for the same price. It sounds like youll be getting a better deal because of the car.

people think that honda's are made of gold or something i saw civics with over 200k on them for well over $3000. if the car is absolutely perfect condition i mean 100% then yeah its worth it and if its clean.

crazytut 03-25-2008 11:48 AM

WAY too much for an old car. just add 2 more grand and you can get yourself a nicer and mucher younger car. I got my honda civic 99 ex with 90,000miles for 5300. "the car is great on gas." Make sure when you are getting ready to buy any car to get the vin number and look it up on carfax.com (it's worth to pay $30, b.c it will show you if car got into any major or minor accidents, salvage title, stolen, etc...)

also if you have little bet money get a mechic to check it out.

good luck
