Can i add a turbokit to a 03 accord 4cyl lx without anything in the engine or
 

car going wrong? I have a 03 accord coupe 4cyl lx and i was wondering if i could add a turbokit to the car without damaging the engine in anyway and how much hp does a turbokit add or does it just depend on the kit?

Boy, that's a big statement ... without anything else going wrong? I'd have to say that one is a no.































The main thing to understand about turbos (and supers and nitrous, ect) is that it is not the power of the turbo that blows engines apart. Most engines can easily handle the additional down forces on the pistons (this is an easy straight force on the crankshaft ... no big deal). It's the additional RPM's that tend to be seen with the new power that ruin the engine. The centrifugal forces that increase with RPM, want to tear the engine apart. So the big thing on the engine is watch the Red Line!































That said, although the engine may handle the extra torque (torque breaks stuff, not horsepower), other parts may not. The transmission (or trans-axle in the case of a Honda), especially if an auto, may not be up the task. Auto's are the most vulnerable as there capacity is mated to the engine when the car is built. Increasing Torque too much exceeds the design of the tranny so without beefing that up, it might fail before too long. Turbo's are probably less harsh as they lack the low RPM torque that is probably the worst on the tranny. After the tranny, the rest of the driveline will also see additional forces but probably nothing to worry about as long as the Turbo isn't too nutty and combined with other boosts.















I think in general, most reasonable Turbo kits would be fine as long as you watch that RPM (a rev limiter might be a good addition with the Turbo)
