Drove with my parking break on?

I know it was stupid, but I had never used it before and was parked in the grass on the hill and thought I should. I put the handle for the break down, but apparently it didn't click all the way to disengage. But anyway, I drove about 15 miles and was going FAST a lot of the way. When I realized it was on by the light on the dash i disengaged the brake and the car continued to run perfectly normally, there was no smoke or scent at all and was driving exactly as it usually does. This was about 4 days ago, the normal brakes work fine and the car is still running fine. What kind of damage do you think i caused? is it possible that since i did put the handle down almost the whole way the damage will be less?

The car is 1999 honda accord coupe.

Don't worry, I did the same thing several years ago on a car I had. It didn't hurt it at all, and I am sure that you didn't hurt your car either. That being said, it wouldn't hurt to take it in to your local Honda dealer and have them check the brakes and the emergency brake. Sometimes you can break the cable or warp the rotors by not relasing the e-brake.

Good luck and God Bless!

I wouldn't worry about it. there is a fair amount of distance that the handle can be up before the brakes actually engage. the brake light comes on at the first click, and the brakes engage moderately at 2 or 3 clicks. this is designed into the system to prevent damage to the brakes. in case someone doesn't get the handle all the way down and the light is there to say hey put the handle down. so you don't hurt anything hope this helps. and if there was no smell or sudden acceleration I would just leave it alone and try to remember to check the brake every time you get in the car because somone else can use it and do the same thing or you can bump it
