Fan problem in my 86 Accord !!!?

hello, i have an accord 86, today i was driving with my brother and i saw the rpm getting a bit higher, i stopped over and popped the hood, the radiator cap was very hot and fuming, somehow i took it off and put water in it... then i saw that the water was spilling as i was pouring it in, it was already full... then i remembered that when i started the car, the fan wasn't working... is that why the car was heating up?... is there a way i can get the fan working again?

Well I am not a Professional mechanic but if there is a temp gage on your car look at that and if it gets close to the red then there is a problem. And the radiator cap should be hot when the car is running open you hood and look and see if the fan is turning on when the car starts getting warmed up. It might not br a fan problem it might be a stuck thermostat problem if its not a fan problem and your not losing water it can only be thermostat or water pump which are easy to fix and there right on top of each other. check that

I'd take my car to mechanic if it did that. However I think that any repair that they may suggest would be more than the car is worth and your best bet would be to buy a new car. I think that any major repair that you would do to a 22 year old car unless it is a 'Classic' which an Accord is not.
