Honda accord transmission problems?

i have a 1991 honda accord lx automatic. I recently went to my moms house and parked the car on a steep hill as if i were driving up the hill. Well Wehn i came back out to the car the little sports light on the dash was flashing at me. The manual says that i have a transmission problem when it does that. Well i lost 1st and 3rd gear. It goes straight to 2nd gear totally skips 3rd and goes right into 4th. Even if i put the car in 3rd or 1st my self it goes to 2nd or 4th. After parking the car on a flat surface for a couple of hours the gears worked again then light stopped flashing. But i loose the gears if i park on an incline at all. Could this be a transmission filter, Belts in the transmission going bad ( do they have belts) or its my transmission just burned? Please help!!!!!

Chances are... the transmission has never been serviced. If the fluid is a slightly low it can cause problems like shifting into wrong gears, slipping, and/or not shifting at all. I dont think it is very expensive to have a new filter put in and have the fluids changed. Which should take care of the problem.
