How do i charge the battery on my honda accord automatic? (1995) the battery
 

is dead and i cant jump start it. The hazerd lights have been flashing and it has run the battery dead. It is an automatic. Can you jump start an auto matic? please no stupid answers. Can i take off the battery to charge it or will that mess up my immobilizer? I live in the country and cant get it to a garage.

Can not push start it if thats what you mean by jump start it, can use jumper cables from another car though, that would be easiest, or take battery out and charge it up.

Yes you can Jump start an automatic but you can't push start it.















You just need another car battery and a pair of Jumper cables















connect (+) to (+) RED















and (-) to (-) Black















Then try to start as normal

Yes, you can jump start it. Any car can be jump started. If you have jumper cables simply connect the cables in this order:















1) Red connector to dead battery (+)















2) Other end of Red cable to good battery (+)















3) Black connector to good ground on other car (engine block) DO NOT connect to the negative terminal on the good battery... that's how you cause batteries to explode.















4) Black connector to dead battery (-)































Let the car with the good battery run for a few minutes connected to the dead battery. Then start your car.































Now, a few things. Take your car to autozone or some auto parts store and have them check the battery. It could be that the battery is bad... or it could be your alternator is bad (and not charging the battery).































If you want to change your battery, that's easy too. Simply disconnect the terminals (do the NEGATIVE terminal FIRST)m, and unbolt the battery from the tray (they ususally have a bar holding the battery so it doesn't flop around), and lift it out. Be careful it's VERY heavy (about 70 lbs). Then plop your new battery in, re-bolt it down, and reconnect your connections (Positive first, negative second).

The first two answers are correct for if the battery is simply dead, but not if it has a bad cell. Check your levels--the plates in the battery must be covered--turn everything off and either jump start or trickle charge it.

you cant ''bump it'' but you can ''jump it''...removing the batt wont hurt the imobiliser ..just red to red,black to black for the leads...i cant understand why it wont jump start....once its running taske it for a good hour spin..that should charge the battery up..

A few points not yet mentioned are:-































If you take the battery off, any alarm will probably activate when you re-connect so have the key fob to hand.































If you take the battery off for more than approx 10 mins, the radio will probably need the code re-entered on reconnection.
