I have a 98 accord 40cyl. 98k miles. For some reason, it is using oil. Not...

...leaking. What is the problem? I keep the maintenance up and change the oil regularly. It was literally empty of oil after I put 5 quarts in there 5 weeks earlier. It didn't show on the stick at all. It is not leaking oil as I have checked it multiple times with cardboard under the car. The dealership told me I needed to have my timing belt maintenance done and they would change all the internal seals and that would fix the problem. Any other ideas?

Just because its not leaking oil externally it could still be leaking internally. When it leaks internally it just burns up in the engine.

probably burning oil, out the tail pipe, that's why you dint see any leaks , Have a friend follow you down the road, and see if you have any blueish smoke coming out the tailpipe, check it a low speeds and at highway speeds , especially when you give it gas . My guess is the oil is in the catalytic converter , where most of it end up them a seal or a piston ring allows the oil to blow buy the oil ring out the exhaust
